Forum Archive I dunno... I understand your point, Ed, and I don't think people should be cruel to Phil -- although I must admit I've seen him behave in ways I found repulsive. Still, I think the guy probably should be banned from shows. Not out of cruelty, but in the interests of safety. There are women who feel very threatened by him, and it's my understanding that his behavior has gotten him physically hurt. Probably better all around if he wasn't in a situation that tempted him to act so inappropriately.

My friend took a bunch of pics of me and our group from that Wheelhouse Creek show (7/7/07) and I swear, EVERY picture of me had him lurking somewhere on the side looking at me... He's everywhere! But I've never seen him actually act inappropriatly or anything... Just a lonely guy - MUCH less offensive than some!!

Forum Archive That youtube clip of the lightining Saturday night is awesome. I was down by the soundboard and kept seeing the flashes behind the stage to the north, but when they went into BRR I looked to the left (west) and saw all that chain lightining heading right for us and I almost crapped my pants. The half mile run back to my van in the rain and lightining was not what I was hoping for on a Saturday night. I'm still amazed that no one was hit. Cool to watch from a distance but kinda a buzz kill if you are in it.

Forum Archive That sound system was astonishing. 20 - 30? - 40? speaker cones, of different sizes, in stacks behind the band. Dual mics with a phasing box on each mic stand. A lot of equipment at the sound board in open-backed rack- mount flight cases. J. Rider also had engineered some electronics fitted inside his bass. There was lore about that system, and definitely extra cargo space to move it. Was looking forward to someone having documented it on this site -- surprised to find no mention. bc

I had mentioned it or something at some point and she went out and found it. We probably listened to it four or five times in a row, just talking. Forum Archive Usually takes a week or 2 Armin....on the issue of Camp '07 , I had two folks help me, Stiney and my wife Maria . There is some material that is good, but as far as seeing it , to be honest , I haven't really thought that much about showing the bands performances in toto...you know , I thought about your question during the day about a release, and it triggered a memory of a conversation with a band member who said that their first preference would be to release a complete show if that ever happened . To be blunt , I really would like the band members input on their ideas , be it sharing or an experiment or whatever . That would be cool . But I know that the band likes a distance , some mystery between them and the fans , just to retain some autonomy , and I can understand that . As far as seeing some material from last year , I had some up but ttok it down cause it was some of the better material that was original and I thougth that maybe it could be put on some kind of future collection , as it had been so well received. There actually is 2-4 tracks still up from last year. Have you viewed them? See things my way , long train running...I had up Thats the way and Louisiana sun , but I dropped them , along wiht a bunch of other covers for various reasons, many of which I will be putting back up this summer-fall....

Forum Archive RMB BLOG Continued... ~ [after 15 hours in a van from NC] Made it to a hotel by the Albany airport by 5am and slept for a few hours. Woke up and drove to Camp Creek for a 1:30 set. It had rained the night before some, so it was a bit muddy. But it had cleared up and it looked like the rest of the bad weather would miss us to the south. I even had a guy at the front of the stage show me the radar on his phone. We'd be all set. We were wrong. About three quarters of the way through the set, it started to rain. I could see the people scurrying up the big hill from the stage. Then it just came down harder and harder. The set was sloppy at times for sure, but here's where I had a "Max Creek" moment and said to myself, "Hey, it's ok. This is fun, just play." And play we did, spurred on by the brave souls who stayed out in the rain, sloshing around an dancing in the mud. A thought crossed my mind to jump down there and dance around in the mud with all those smiling faces, and once I thought it, I couldn't talk myself out of it. Took off my shoes and socks, jumped off the stage, ran through the crowd and dove through the mud head first. Stumbled back through the crowd, jumped back on the stage and finished playing "Electric Avenue." Rock and Roll.

Forum Archive Ryan Montbleau Band BLOG ~ So after the whirlwind 10,000 miles plus in four weeks, we got home for two days and hit the road again, this time for just a Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday run that took us to Pennsylvania and back. It seemed too soon to be getting back into the van! But we got to open for Max Creek at Lupo's in Providence on the first night, which is always fun. Something about a band that's been together for 38 years that can have a real calming effect on you. Those guys plug in and jam for three hours straight and they can still really get it going. And they are certainly far from worried, you know! As a young band it can seem at times like every gig is the last gig on earth, it's live or die up there. After all, you're trying to get somewhere! And that can be good, it's good to be hungry. But watching Max Creek, you realize, hey man, just play some music. It's not life or death. It's life. Have fun with it. Where are you going to get that you aren't already?

Forum Archive I would say that the camping arrangement was from the soggy lower fields due to weather and not anything else. I would hope that if the land was dry they wouldve had the same camping setup as all the other years, cuz I sure missed the quiet camping with expansive front lawns and wooded woodlands.

Forum Archive ...and not that it matters any but I give the edge to the 3 show I saw in Baltimore over the one at Camp. I agree with SK. I obviously didn't fully appreciate BK's playing until I heard him play in this project with all the open space he had to fill. Really though....Oteil was the surprise that REALLY knocked me back. Probably because he was the one I was least familiar with going in. Just amazing. Murawski?? Man...no surprises there. He just continues to do what he's done for all these years and I still love every fuckin note....every fuckin note!!
