My capture software, as well as the others that I know of, capture analog signals only. They capture the Mac's audio. If I import digital, the computer changes that to analog for the speakers, then captures that, re-digitizing it for the hard drive.

Ethanol is a horrible alternative presently when we have other sources for energy or fuel..that wouldn't take from our food resources which would boost costs in various categories..nevermind that it's not cost effective..Hydrogen can be so much more effective being that it's one of the most abundant gases in the world..or biofuels that can be recycled and used again..food to fuel

Basically, you need a sound card that has a digital s/pdif in .. then you go digital out of a dat deck in to the computer. you might need to change the settings in whatever you use to record to use the digital input instead of the analog one.. also DATs can be recorded at either 44.1 or 48k. you need to record at the same sampling rate as the dat is. then if it's 48k you need to resample to 44.1 so it can be played on cds

I find that I am currently unable to just transfer the digital music to my hard drive... apparently that's not as easy as it sounds. I have to go analog once, and decided to take the analog signal from the DAT player and import that to my iMac. I have inquiries out on how to do that, but no helpful responses so far. If any of you have any ideas, let me know. Meanwhile, the recordings I've gotten so far sound mint!

ok, I've recorded two copies of the first sk DAT... one was recorded at a lower level than the other... I raised that a little, to exactly 0.0... the other has clipping (some from the original recording, some from recording at a higher level here. The clips are all of just brief peaks of a few milliseconds, and it sounds ok to me... but then my ear sucks :) Of course the clipped version is much louder than the unclipped... which should I use?

actually a car that runs on water is a possibility just not in the very near future. Seems to me that having a tank full of water and having some way to break apart H2O molecules on demand and igniting the hydrogen and oxygen seems like a better idea than driving around with a tank full of hydrogen. Also wouldn't need all that infrastructure to contain/support the delivery of all that hydrogen. Aluminum has such a strong affinity for oxygen that it can split apart water molecules. However a thin coating immediately covers the AL so it can't do this for very long. Researchers at Purdue University have discovered that if the AL is combined with a substance called gallium and others to prevent the skin from forming allowing on-demand conversion of water to Hydrogen and Oxygen. Long ways to go obviously, but looks pretty cool.... http://news.uns.purdue.edu/x/2008a/080219WoodallAluminum.html

Very very cool of phil to perform those 2 albums, wonder what’s next? This could be the last time for the Warfield, there are new owners. Springsteen did something similar last week, he did a benefit show at the count basie orchestra performing arts center which is in need of serious renovation, the first set he performed the entire darkness on the edge of town album and the 2nd set the entire born to run album. Speaking of The Last Time, maybe the creek should do that song as the final song on Sunday of camp creek, just before we take off on the drive of shame.

Great article in a Popular Mechanics last year from Jay Leno on electric cars. His 100 year old Baker Electric car still with its original batteries gets about 100 miles on a charge. A modern electric still gets about 100 miles on a charge. Not a lot of progress in the last century.

Last night Phil Lesh & Friends opened a five-night run at San Francisco’s famed Warfield Theater. To the surprise of nearly everyone in attendance, Lesh and his friends ran through a complete version of the Grateful Dead’s 1967 self-titled debut during their first set, with Bob Weir joining his estranged bandmate for “Cream Puff War,” ”Morning Dew,” “New Minglewood Blues” and “Viola Lee Blues.” Weir returned at the start of Lesh’s second set as the bassist jumped headfirst into the Dead’s 1968 sophomore effort Anthem of the Sun, which includes classics like “That's It For The Other One” and early rave-ups such as “Alligator.” At the end of the night, Lesh closed his set with the Buddy Holly sing-a-long “Not Fade Away.” With eight sets and eight albums to go, it’s a fair bet that Lesh will run through the Grateful Dead’s entire recorded canon over the next few days. Phil & Friends will return to the Warfield this evening. As of press time, the venue's future is uncertain.

generally, I would agree with Stretchy. My statements were never meant to say there isn't change in the climate, what I am not sure of is if man is responsible for it or not. Regardless if we are or not, there isn't anything in a "green" mentality that I would disagree with - find alternate, more efficient energy sources, stop wasting natural resources, etc. However, some of these "green" initiatives can be way off track. I think Ethanol is joke.

kind of a dual edged sword with oil. the environmentalists dont want us to drill OUR OWN oil which of course is why we demand so much from the middle east. and ..."As you go deeper into debt filling up your tank with $4 gas this weekend, look on the bright side -- you're helping to fund countries that hate you. From Russia to Iran to Venezuela, America's adversaries are splurging on oil windfalls, while programs directed against Uncle Sam and his allies are funded by petroleum revenues"----the rest of an interesting article on OIL is here http://www.nypost.com/seven/05112008/postopinion/opedcolumnists/over_a_barrel_110289.htm?page=0

and now for something completely different. Do we have more natural disasters than before? not sure, but it seems like it. myself, I see a direct correlation between human disasters ( wars, suicide bombers, massive political unrest, genocide, dictators, etc., etc., ad nauseam), and the natural disasters. I believe one causes the other.

well, I don't know what's going on, but I know what I see. I see glaciers melting at an unprecedented rate, some are nearly gone. I see millions of acres of trees being removed, and being burned for fuel. I see pollution on a global scale, both chemical and plastic. I see coral reefs becoming extinct because of warmer waters. I see overfishing of most species. I see our enormous appetite for fossil fuels shaping world politics, and not for the better. I see our most precious resource, fresh water, running in short supply. I see the last nine out of 10 summers being the hottest on record. I see most of us not caring. That's what I see. If you don't think any of this affects us on a global scale, well, I have no idea what you think. what I do think is that we could be doing a much better job in all of these areas, not only because it makes common sense, but because it is right. Soap box off.

CO2 is one of dozens of greenhouse emissions contributing..N2O, methane, etc..burning fossil fuels, deforestation (human activity) raise CO2 levels..water vapor is a big contributor, however GHG's stay in the atmosphere much longer..in turn causing warming, bringing more vapor..its a vicious cycle..if you or anyone for that matter can disprove the scientific consensus that CO2 and other GHG's aren't the cause of our VERY REAL global warming climate change CRISIS..by all means go get your facts published and you'll be bigger than Louis Pasteur..sliced bread even..I'd make it snappy though

Global temperatures drive Co2 levels. Not the other way around....and with a lag time of about 800 years. The number one greenhouse gas? Water vapor!! To the tune of 95%. Man can do nothing to change that. Co2 as a percentage of overall atmospheric composition? 0.036%!! That's significantly less than 1/2 of 1 percent. Mankind contributes 3.225% to the overall Co2 levels in the atmosphere today. That's 3.225% of 0.0036%. We got environmental problems of our own making folks. But man made Co2 emmissions as they relate (or fail to relate) to global warming isn't one of them. Bummer because it gets all the attention and takes research and resources away from more pressing environmental problems. Kind of like drugs. We've got a huge drug problem in this country....but it aint weed that's the biggest issue. However it gets attention and is a headline grabber because it's the first one that most kids try first. Eh...probably a weak analogy. But the numbers are solid. Confirm them with NOAA or any science university site.

I told my long-haired hippie friend Jesse that Scott was playing in a trio and he said: "What's it called? Murawski Martin & Wood?" Haha! This whole climate thing is tough. National Geographic has an article this month about poison ivy becoming more potent because of the high levels of carbon dioxide in the atmospehere. Certain trees are dying because of that too. The Earth has always changed, we've contributed a bit. Wanna know how much Nitrogen runs off from lawn fertilizers every year? It's staggering. We're upsetting the balance, killing stuff. If you want a sweet lawn, overseed and aerate it. There are no weeds in healthy lawns. And plant native species of shrubs and trees, to your area. The news rocks! I'm axiously awaiting the return of Heroes. Yeah, it's the same shit that has been happening for years and years and years, we're more cognizant of it and more a part of it. Plant a tree, a native species. peace!

Bosco, Rochguy, I'm not a scientist, but it sure seems like the vast majority of climate experts believe the climate is changing and that more and more severe storms will be a likely effect. I would have to guess they have systems for measurement and models for analyzing and evaluating climate change. Of course, media coverage adds to public perception of imminent crisis. When the scientific community as a whole predicts catastrophic climate change in the near future, though, I tend to take it pretty seriously.

if you flipped a coin 100,000 times -the results would be close to 50% heads and 50% tails. However, if you examined any 10 or 20 flip sequence within that 100,000 you would see some runs of 5,6, 10, 12 heads or tails in a row. So to examine ANY short run period in natural disasters or ANY event and assume something is out of whack is silly. Anything can happen in the short run... you could go to Vegas and win thousands at blackjack, but in the long run the odds straighten themselves out and the casino wins. Some data other than observation would have to be provided and proved for anything else to be considered.

Boris....I don't "blame" the media. I "credit" them. Seriously though. How do you compare the frequency of natural disasters causing loss of life today to those of 100 years ago or more? The frequency and severity couldn't possibly be accurately measured by today's standards. The sky isn't falling. And if it is...I don't believe we caused it and I don't believe we can do anything about it. Except hold your hits longer maybe.

well if us humans are at fault for the extreme natural disasters then we best start heating up the earth because the earth has been cooling the last 10 years.....going green is cool but dont be a fool!

DARWIN, Australia (AP) -- An Australian driver who secured a carton of beer in his car with a seat belt but left a 5-year-old child unrestrained was fined 750 Australian dollars ($710), police said Tuesday. Constable Wayne Burnett said he was "shocked and appalled" when he pulled over the unregistered car on Friday in the central Australian town of Alice Springs. The 30-can carton was strapped in between the two adults sitting in the back seat of the car. The child was also in back, on the vehicle's floor. "The child was sitting in the lump in the center, unrestrained," Burnett told reporters Tuesday. "I haven't ever seen something like this before," he said. "This is the first time that the beer has taken priority over a child."

It's absolutely TRUE that HUMANS are to blame for the number of storms as well as the severity of those storms as of late. Well...actually not ALL humans, just one person actually. He's about 3'6" tall and has a diabolical weather machine that he programs these storms into, and all the while he's rubbing his hands together laughing a sinister laugh. He also farts CO2 at an astronomical rate. No wait...that's the president I'm thinking of!! My bad.

I agree with Mote.....I believe that what's really changed is the high speed at which news travels globally. IMO there's probably no more natural disasters than there were 100 years ago. They just are reported so quickly. And with so many 24 hour news outlets on-line and on TV, competition encourages sensationalization of stories of mediocre importance and inflates them. And then truly newsworthy stories like Burma and China get way more attention than they could have a generation or two ago.

I’m Back! The Thurs night Phil show was an “A” show. 1st set was 68 minutes and the 2nd set was 104 minutes. I especially liked the Doin That Rag sung by Molitz and a great, ripping version of Chest Fever (The Band) by Larry Campbell. Scar……Fire was a nice way to end the 1st set, it was a short one, only 20 minutes (being just somewhat sarcastic). A nice Trkn opened the 2nd set then a jackie tune then a really nice eyes of the world followed by just 1 verse of the 11 into a Other One Jam into a killer Caution (the highlight of the show!) with Jackie on vocals and doing Pigpen very proud with some very over the top vocals/stories, then into the other one, a nice Loser into a very crisp help/slip/frank to close the set. Cold rain & snow made for a nice encore. The 2nd night was at least a ½ hour shorter overall, and not as good, although it certainly had it’s moments. I’m still on the fence as to a grade, B or B+, but I give them credit for trying different tunes, and mining the weir cannon of GD tunes like never before. After a nice opening jam brown eyed women was quite lovely, then a first ever mama tried with the kid on lead vocals, it was just okay, but I can see that one in the future with larry playing wither fiddle or mando on it, that would be nice, alligator was certainly a surprise, but phil seemed to lack the vocal chops that night to pull off a really good version of it, same with the birdsong, which I think would be better sung by Jackie, the set ended strongly with Jackie doing a magnificent High Time, not sure if they’ve ever done that one before, and that was followed by a hot casey jones. The 2nd set seemed a little disjoined to me, a nice feel like a stranger (another first ever) opened the set followed by okay versions of sitting on top of the world and another Jackie tune, playing in the band was good and the dark star……..new potato caboose………dark star……..golden road……….ujb was excellent and following that was a pretty good sugar mag. I was quite shocked that the encore was direwolf, not an encore type tune, I expected them to follow up with another since the show the night before ended at 11:36 and it was just 11:09 when direwolf ended. Saturday night I saw a nice show with jw, a co-bill of hot tuna and little feat, tuna opened (electric) and played 88 minutes and little feat played 1:44, they played a nice set list with almost all songs from the late great Lowell George era. My problem with little feat is they consider themselves a jam band now, something the real little feat never were, they stretched out the songs way to long and could have easily played another 3 – 4 songs in the 1:44 if they didn’t try to stretch them out for so long. Let the words be yours, I’m done with mine!

For all the bluegrass lovers out there. I have been working on this all week. http://www.shnflac.net/details.php?id=88ca86810700cca68e2e4a26fdfdd8c4a0c434c1 It's Merlefest 4-24-27,2008. This is pt. 1 of the 4th day. It is a sweet sounding Radio Broadcast. The first Day I fit onto 5 discs, the second day I put on 10 discs, the third day goes on 12 discs and I am guessing that the fourth day will be 5 or 6 discs also. Aside from Donna the Buffalo everything here has been stellar, there are some Superjam type things, Some cool sit in's and alot of bands I never heard but really enjoyed...like Bearfoot (from Alaska) and Blue Highway, who could possibly be my new favorite bluegrass band. Just thought I would share.

His albums were never re-issued, because his bitchy daughters kept fighting over $$$, but I'm getting a good transcription of this reel-to-reel version of his "Fred Waring and the Pennsylvanians in Hi-Fi" (stereo version), and will turn it into a cd. Well, the reel-to-reel tape recorder I got recently works fine (I'm currently transcribing an old tape of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir/Ohiladelphia Orchestra that was never re-released on cd), so if any of you have old reel-to-reel tapes of Creek, I can now transcribe them for you. One of the tapes I recently bought on ebay had real bad print-through, and was unuseable, so if you think these tapes will last forever, forget it! Get it done now, or they may be lost forever.

The Gathering of the Vibes has expanded its roster of performers with some familiar names. Mike Gordon, fresh off his appearance at the Jammys (where Vibes founder Ken Hays presented the Grahamy Jammy) will bring his latest touring band to the festival. In addition, Bill Kreutzmann's new trio, featuring Scott Murawski and Oteil Burbridge will make an appearance. While the daily schedules have not yet been announced, it is entire possible that Gordon will sit in with the Grateful Dead drummer's group, which evolved out a performance earlier this year in Costa Rica by Gordon, Murawski and Kreutzmann.

The worst concerts I ever saw were Dead shows at the Oakland Coliseum. The first night of the 1991 New Years Eve run and the first night of the 1993 Mardi Gras run. Wonderful as they could be, the Grateful Dead were capable of sucking ass on an epic scale.

What Derek said. I have been there a few times. Great small place with a way cool owner (although the puff must stay outside). It is a BYOB place, but you still gotta be cool and not out of hand. There are no mail order tickets, only will-call. $45 plus $4 handling, ours came out to $49 each. Even though there is assinged seating, I can see the seats being pushed to the wall for dancing for sure.

Any one hit the jammys last night? X, classic one for ya. So i was in Mothers restaurant in New Orleans last wednesday night and i run into Gordo. Well, the place is really famous so there where a few folks in the place. Mike walks by and i say "Ha Mike thanks for hooking up scotty, and he gave me a big grin" so this table of young very attractive ladies asked me who I was, and who was scotty. O boy, did i give um an ear full. I think we have new creeks freaks and 3 fan's. Classic stuff! Couple shots of whiskey!

funny seeing sk on the spitune.com page.. classic. I did my part for baseball intra-fan harmony by going to a Yankees game last night, just to see the famed stadium before it's gone (and Carolyn's family had several generations of men who ushered there, so she has family memories), because I love history and the game itself. Had a fine time, sweet night for a game. Alas, the Yankees themselves sucked wind.

Whatever Red Sox fans say these days about the Yankees or their fans, pales in comparison to all the sh*t we have had to endure from Yankees fans all these years. Every Yankee fan I know couldn't wait to make me feel like sh*t for being a Red Sox fan instead of being content with enjoying winning all the time. Now the playing field has been leveled and they don't like it. So they attack the fan base because there is nothing they can say about the team.. The level of arrogance on both sides is pretty much even as is the talents of both teams.. I loathe the Yankees, but have no reason to talk sh*t.. the Sox winning is enough for me

sk they had free beer at fenway on that July night in 1989. Mass fans have been known to be drunks. Monday Night Football was banned in Foxboro for a long long time due to the intoxicated fans in the stands. I saw a MNF game against the Cowboys around 198-81 and it was ugly I must admit. in my trips to Fenway ive seen mostly class but theres always the one or two dudes that have to fight and get thrown out. Same in Yankee stadium.

There’s no doubt that every team has fans that are assholes, no doubt. You’re giving me examples of a few people here, a few there. Even rioting fans turning cars over, that’s a couple of hundred at most. What I saw at Fenway Park that night was a whole stadium, 10,000’s of thousands of people mock & ridicule someone who had a disease. The bar was set very low that night, and nobody out here has even come close to approaching that.

One time when I was a kid, about 15 years old, we went to a Sox Yankee game at Fenway and 4 complete asshole Yankee fans cornered me after I went to take a leak and threatened to beat me up because I had a Pittsburgh Pirate hat on. It was the year after they had won the World Series and they had really cool hats. Anyway I got lucky that an usher caught wind of it. So you see, loser Yankee Fans are everywhere, in every park, picking on skinny defenseless teenagers, their disabled grandparents, women nursing children, etc.. and it doesn't have to be about the Sox/Yankee rivalry. Now if it had happened 5 years later I would've slit their throats and mailed their tongues to SK in Connecticut.

Actually Peter, red sox fans (for the most part) are a-holes because it’s innate. Generation after generation, and decade after decade of being the American league’s doormat, along with the Washington Senators (first in war, first in peace, last in the American League) is the main reason. Finally, in 2003 the red sox caught (and in subsequent years) passed the yankees in regard to their on the field success. Their fans however continued their loutish behavior. The absolute low point being a steamy July night in 1989 when a hard-working, game young man named Jin Eisenreich who played for the Kansas City Royals and was afflicted with Torrets Syndrome was mocked and made fun of by a capacity crowd at Fenway Park. Things got so bad that the Royals had to put Jim on the disabled list after that game. I witnessed this, and to this day it remains the single-most pathetic thing I’ve ever seen. While I know of several classy red sox fans, they are the exception rather than the rule. This current team is built for success. They should be successful for years to come. Their fans (for the most part) don’t deserve this kind of success.

I just got my best squirrel pics ever, over at Nate's (some of you old-timers might remember Nate... he used to come with me back in the early 90's)... anyway, he's got these 2 cute baby squirrels living at his place, pretty tame, so I just sat there 6-8 feet away and took 150 pics! Probably won't get them up on my website until the weekend, but here is one of the best: http://scoogy.com/pics-for-posting/DSC07063.jpg

YO everyone. just uploaded Guitarness from Friday night at Eastover..the 3am to 7am show onto btetree!!! it's really an AMAZING show for those of you that went to bed or couldn't make the weekend, you should really check it out. for some reason i don't know yet, if you search for it on btetree it won't show up unless you show torrents with no seeders. but i'm definitely seeding. you can find it here: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=515030 thanks to john yungk for taping it and letting me grab it from him so i could seed it.

one isolated incident from one (probably) drunk spick and you're making a generalization on all yankee fans? you guys always had big mouths, always talked a lot, even when you were losers all those years, well now you know what it's like to be a winner, now you know what it's been like to have been a yankee fan for al those decades, it's just too bad you're all such a-holes!!!

well obviously it was the red sox fan who opened his/her big mouth first. i've already witnessed it at fenway park, when the entire stadium made fun of jim eisenrich whou had torrets syndrome, it was the most pathetic display i've ever seen, red sox fans are the worst fans in american sports, they are the equivalent of european hooligan soccer fans.

So I went and caught the Police again on Sat. in Buffalo. Amazing show. They even changed up the set list a little bit from when I saw them last summer. If you had told me back in 1983, as I was sitting next to my record player listening to Syncronicity, that I would be seeing the Police live in a quarter century, I would have said you were crazy. The only part of the show that was lame were all of the OLD people that were there. I still can't figure out how you sit for an entire show that rocks that hard. We got lucky and scored an entire row for ourselves. I got some funky looks from the elderly sitting near us.

Anybody out there give me information on what a good show would be to take an older (fella), that being my father. Show obviously a MAX CREEK show. He is an older vietnam vet. that I turned on to MAX CREEK, like a cokehead to cocaine. He was severely injures in the war and is now handdicaped. We are coming from PA, so it would best be a camping event. Any feed back would be great. I was thinking (CAMP CREEK)! Is there a handicap section? I really want this to happen, Thus he is in bad condition and might not have to many more chances! Help some hippies out please.

for details about Internet Archive and their sources of contributions and income, go to http://foundationcenter.org/findfunders/990finder/ and type in "Internet Archive" for the organization. ...it's interesting stuff, about half their money comes from contributions and the other half is income from hosting fees, data extraction services and speaking engagements. also they make contributions to other archive projects.

I tell ya, LL Bean stands behind what they sell...about a year and a half ago I bought some hiking boots online. One of the top grommets snapped off recently so I can't fully tie them at the top. No receipt no nothing except for the pair of boots and walked into the local outlet store in Mansfield and I walk out 10 minutes later with a brand new pair. No hassle at all

Way toooo much Sk here today. That "pen and paper" shit craked me up. Even though it is very late and I have to start driving very early, I think I have to go find my camera and download the pics of SK being "on top" of it during the whole Spitune/Creek afternoon set from Eastover. Hey SK, who does that pen work when the only thing coming out of you was "Zzzzzzzzzz"! (is that how you spell sleeping???)

Peter, Seems like you didn’t bother to read the entire profile, I said that “I do believe Robbie Cano will end up as the best yankee second baseman in history”. That of course would be based on a career, not 2 seasons. I said the exact same thing in 1996 about Derek Jeter, and as it has turned out, he is the greatest ss in Yankee History. And to your point, he’s off to a miserable start. He’s way to talented to finish like that though.

5/1/08 - Today’s Player Profile – Willie Randolph: I loved Willie Randolph, one of my favorite players ever. He was the quiet, unassuming guy in a clubhouse full of characters. He came to the ballpark everyday and gave 100%. He was a rock-solid leadoff man, and a great defensive second basemen. Willie played 18 seasons and was a 6 time all star, surprisingly, and shockingly he never won a gold glove award. He scored 1,239 runs, had 2,210 hits including 316 doubles, 65 triples and 54 homers (an oddity, more triples than homers). He drove in 687 runs from the leadoff spot. Willie was a catalyst for the yankees and stole 271 bases and was successful 74% of the time. In my opinion Willie had the best eye in baseball, if an umpire called a strike and Willie disagreed with it, the umpire was wrong. In an average season Willie would walk 91 times and K 50 times. He had a career on-base percentage of .373 while the league average was .325. He ended up with a .276 average and in his only season on the HOF Ballot he received only 1.1% of the vote. In 162 post season at bats he had 4 homers, drove in 14 and batted .222. Tony Lazzeri was prolly the greatest Yankee second baseman of all time, but he played well before my time. I do believe Robbie Cano will end up as the best yankee second baseman in history, but right now, to me Willie was the best.

A man placed some flowers on the grave of his dearly departed mother and started back toward his car when his attention was diverted to another man kneeling at a grave. The man seemed to be praying with profound intensity and kept repeating, "Why did you have to die? Why did you have to die? Why did you have to die?" The first man approached him and said, "Sir, I don't wish to interfere with your private grief, but this demonstration of pain is more than I've ever seen before. For whom do you mourn so deeply? A child? A parent?" The mourner took a moment to collect himself, then replied, "My wife's first husband."

Recent NHTSA Study..The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently announced that, for the past three years, they jointly funded a project with two major US auto makers, Ford and Chevrolet, whereby the auto makers installed black boxes in all four wheel drive pickup trucks in an effort to determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last 10 seconds before a crash. They were surprised to find in 45 of the 50 states that the last words of drivers in 63 percent of fatal crashes were, “Oh, Shit!” Only the states of Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Tennessee were different - where over 89 percent of final words were: “Hey ya’ll, hold my beer and watch this!”

3 is confirmed for Tupelo Music Hall in Londonderry NH for 6/3. Reserved seats on sale now for $45. I know it sounds a bit expensive, but I have been to many shows there and it is a great place. It is a BYOB place, so you save so much on the bar bill.

Research has led to the discovery of the heaviest element yet known to science. The new element, Governmentium (Gv), has one neutron, 25 assistant neutrons, 88 deputy neutrons, and 198 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 312. These 312 particles are held together by forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons.Since Governmentium has no electrons, it is inert; however, it can be detected, because it impedes every reaction with which it comes into contact. A minute amount of Governmentium can cause a reaction that would normally take less than a second to take from four days to four years to complete. Governmentium has a normal half-life of 2 to 6 years; It does not decay, but instead undergoes a reorganization in which a portion of the assistant neutrons and deputy neutrons exchange places. In fact, Governmentium's mass will actually increase over time, since each reorganization will cause more morons to become neutrons, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron promotion leads some scientists to believe that Governmentium is formed whenever morons reach a critical concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as critical morass. When catalyzed with money, Governmentium becomes Administratium, an element that radiates just as much energy as Governmentium since it has half as many peons but twice as many morons.
A new element has been found! (HA@lol)

4/30/08 - Today’s Player Profile – Will Clark: The slugging 1B teamed with Barry Bonds to give the Giants a formidable 3, 4 punch. In 15 seasons he finished 2nd, 4th and two 5th’s in MVP Voting, he was a 6 time all star and even won a Gold Glove. He led the league in slugging, runs, total bases, RBI and walks once. He ended up with a .303 lifetime average had 2,176 hits, 440 doubles, 47 triples, and 284 homers. He scored 1,186 runs, once finishing with over 100 in a season, 1,205 RBI, 4 times over 100. In an average season he would walk 77 times and K 98 times. His On Base Percentage was .384, the league average was .333, his slugging percentage was .497, the leagues was .407. he ended up with a .303 lifetime average. He was good in the post season, in 117 at bats he hit 5 homers drove in 16 and batted .333. He seemed to have something left in the tank when he retired at age 36, in his last season he hit over .300 and hit 20 homers and drove in 70 runs. 4 less seasons than Garvey, yet similar numbers, in fact Will The Thrill might even be better, but not enough for the HOF. In fact while Garvey was and still is receiving 20% or more of the votes, Will received 4.4% in his first year of eligibility then dropped off the ballot.

ok, here's one thats politically neutral... not the biggest reason I don't want Hillary for President, but if she won, it would be at least 24 and maybe 28 years of having the leader of our country be from 1 of 2 families. We could go from 1988 to 2016 having a President whose last name is either Bush or Clinton. A citizen would have to be pushing 30 to know anything different... Are we a democracy or what?

Reagan on our current president, George W. Bush: "A moment I've been dreading. George brought his n'er-do-well son around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the political one who lives in Florida; the one who hangs around here all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work." From the Reagan diaries.

Great pleace in a really cool New England style town. I'd recommend it to anyone who can get out there on a Thursday. I spoke with Murawski on Friday night and he said he was going to Manhattan on Saturday afternoon to jam and record with Trey, Gordon, Kreutzman and Chuck Levell (sp?). A possible summer festival act if they feel they're capturing any magic."

Albert Hofmann :: January 11, 1906 - April 29, 2008 Albert Hoffman from Hoffman.orgAlbert Hofmann passed away at his home at 9 a.m. on Tuesday April 29, 2008 of a heart attack at the age of 102. He will be missed. Albert Hofmann was born in Baden, Switzerland in 1906. He graduated from the University of Zürich with a degree in chemistry in 1929 and went to work for Sandoz Pharmaceutical in Basel, Switzerland. With the laboratory goal of working towards isolation of the active principles of known medicinal plants, Hofmann worked with Mediterranean squill (Scilla maritima) for several years, before moving on to the study of Claviceps purpurea (ergot) and ergot alkaloids. Over the next few years, he worked his way through the lysergic acid derivatives, eventually synthesizing LSD-25 for the first time in 1938. After minimal testing, LSD-25 was set aside as he continued with other derivatives. Four years later, on April 16, 1943, he re-synthesized LSD-25 because he felt he might have missed something the first time around. That day, he became the first human to experience the effects of LSD after accidentally ingesting a minute amount. Three days later, on April 19, 1943, he decided to verify his results by intentionally ingesting 250 ug of LSD. This day has become known as "Bicycle Day" as Hofmann experienced an incredible bicycle ride on his way home from the lab. In addition to his discovery of LSD, he was also the first to synthesize psilocybin (the active constituent of 'magic mushrooms') in 1958. Albert Hofmann, known as the 'father of LSD', continued to work at Sandoz until 1971 when he retired as Director of Research for the Department of Natural Products. He continued to write, lecture, and play a leading role as an elder in the psychedelic community until his death at the age of 102.
