4/14/08 – Today’s Player Profile - Dale Murphy: Dale’s light shone very brightly for about 6- 7 seasons, his last great year was at age 31, this was followed by 4 decent seasons and then a couple of abysmal seasons and then he called it a career. In 18 seasons he won the league’s MVP twice and had a 7th & 9th place finish. He also won 5 Gold Glove Awards and was a 7 time all-star. He finished his career with 1,197 runs scored, topping 100 4 times and leading the league once. He had 1,266 RBI, 5 times ove 100 in a season, he had 2,111 hits, 350 doubles, 39 triples and he blasted 398 homers. He led the league in total bases once, homers and RBI twice, walks once and strikeouts 3 times. He could run a little too, he stole 161 bases and was successful 70% of the time. His batting average was .265. In a 162 game season he averaged 73 walks and 130 strikeouts. He had a .346 on-base percentage, barely over the league average of .335 and had a .469 slugging percentage while the league averaged .397. In his prime years he didn’t miss a lot of games, leading the league in games played 4 times. In his first 3 years of HOF eligibility, he averaged about 20% of the vote. That figure continued to drop and he’s been averaging about 10% of the vote since that time. Dale was an impact player, but when you look at the stats, they are not as good as Dawson, Parker & Rice (all slotted for future player profiles) all outfielders, and they are not in the HOF either. In fact, I have always considered these 3 so close statistically that I plan on doing a comparison of all 3 on an excel spreadsheet which I will make available for your perusal some time in the not so distant future.

for anyone that cares in Rochester... the Free Party in Park shows have been moved from HF to corner of Exchange and Court streets... down the street from Dinosaur at the base of the new bridge. Apparently,there is an RGE project at HF that will prevent having the shows there and the event has outgrown Manhattan Square Park. So far have only seen Chris Duarte and Dickey Betts announced.

Philmore: I went to Univ. Of Denver. Fillmore is relatively intimate, has above average sound, and is in a relatively scetch neighborhood. If that neighborhood was in the northeast, t would be considered pretty mild. Any downtown hotel (i.e., Brown Palace - where the Beatles would stay in Denver) is close. Have fun.

I officially have Eastover fever. I am really hoping for nice weather. It seems to pour every year, not that that has ever put a damper on my weekend. I have never really had a chance to enjoy the grounds. I always get there after work on Friday right before the party starts. Once the party starts, it doesn't seem to stop. This year, I took Friday off and I am planning to get there early in the afternoon and hike and explore, maybe even horseback ride. I figure checking things out before the party is myonly chance. I miss you all and can't wait to see you there!!

I was at the Filmore in Denver like 8 years ago to see Phil. Nice room as i remember. I wasn't taping so I didn't worry about set up spots. The neighborhood back then was pretty sketchy. Who knows now. I remember I had a drunk Mexican woman asking me for help putting her shoes on while I walked to my hotel. I declined.

Crab better then lobster? Say aint so! Steve Miller, ya ya over that in High School. Partied in the lot before all the Vegas openers. Skipped the Breakfast, had i not went huge Monday night at DDBB, I may have made it. Jazz Fest in a few weeks, more tunes then one man can handle. I will post my tentative plans in a bit, crazy. Swingers, for christ sake enjoy! Tammy seems like a very cool lady from her posts. Make sure your own kitchen is spotless before ya throw stones. I say the more sex the better. Thats why im single, just can not play the same par 3 every day of my life. There are way to many to play on before i die. And I degress :) :)

well the weather down here in ABQ is pretty nice, stayed up playing poker until 2 in the morn last night, i was involved in a "bad beat" hand, some guy lost with a full boat, aces over queens to 4 deuces, the bad beat pot which goes as high as $20,000 was around $6,000, so the guy who got beat got half of that, the guy that one got half of the $3,000 and the rest of the table split the other $1,500, there were 5 of us, so i got $300 for that, just enough to cover all my loses!!!

To add too Skeets's post below... A show-only ticket at Eastover does NOT get you into the late-night shows in the "Red Room." You have to have a room at the resort to go to the late-nights. But never fear -- the regular Creek shows at Eastover have been consistently going till 3 AM -- which in my book is pretty damned late at night!

First time I saw The Breakfast was Friday night at Camp a number of years ago in the tent ot the top of the hill. I walked up and they were already playing. I saw x behind the stage and he motioned me over, pointed to the drummer and said "Watch this fucker play." I proceeded to watch him play some of the sickest drums evah....... began to sob uncontrolably......... drove home and sold my kit.

My first Psychedelic Breakfast experience was late niught at camp. They opened with Bowie (Space Oddity) and also did a Zppa tune (Magic Fingers, I think) then the drummer took a solo, HOLY S**T, this guy can play, then he stands up and he is no taller than the cymbals, lol, I was expecting a giant. They are all extremely talented musicians, but, they seem to move around too much, lot's of back and forth, in and out stuff. I can't get my brain to wrap around things that fast, as soon as I figure out what I am hearing, they switch it up. Talented band, but tough to follow.

haha, I remember that afternoon well, I'll never forget the crash, of course it happens in slow motion... you almost were able to get around him hitting you! and then that stuff fell off of his truck as he was trying to flee up the hill, I don't think he ever noticed and by the time the police were done it wasn't there anymore (that's karma in action for you)! but it wasn't as nerve-racking as when woman in the van hit us, on your side of the car, you were well shaken!

The first few times I’d seen them were as an opener for creek at toads, they went by the name of psychedelic breakfast back then sometimes they played too long cutting into the creek’s time but always, always, they played way too loud, obnoxiously loud. For those reasons alone I took a dislike to them. Then they changed their name to “The Breakfast”, and that pissed me off. How the hell do these guys have the audacity, the unmitigated gall to put a “The” before their name??? The Who earned that right, so did The Band, New Orleans earned it’s nickname The Big Easy and New York The Big Apple. So that’s strike two against them. Then, about 3 – 4 years ago, I decided to give these guys one last shot, they were playing a Sunday early evening gig on the town green in Guilford or Branford so me, stretch and gem head for the show on a beautiful late summer late afternoon day. Well we get in a pretty bad car accident on the way down, I was driving gem’s car and I go through a GREEN light at a normal rate of speed and this guy on the other side of the light decides to take a chance and take the left before we got to the intersection………bad judgement call on his part, I swerved right to avoid him but he clipped our car pretty good! Then he looks back at us, and then attempts to flee!!! I back up the car and it was really not in good driving condition and go after him, then I guess he sees me going after him and he stops and comes back, and he had his kid in the car with him, nice example to set there…………………as far as the accident goes, we were pretty shaken up, lucky for me, I had the foresight (almost psychic) to have had some pain meds with my lunch a couple of hours before that. so while we waited for the cops to get there stretch is chatting the guy up practically inviting him to dinner when I step in to remind stretch, remember, this is the guy that tried to do a hit & run on us. So the cops came, took the information and they towed the car away, and stretch called deb to come pick us up. And that’s all she wrote. And that’s why there is no love lost between myself and “The” Breakfast.

I dig the Breakfast a lot. I saw them here in I-town and they ripped. The new members are settling in and the music is powerful. Funky, jammy, sometimes with a harder edge. This loses me a little sometimes but then the music shifts into another interlude and I am dazzled again. Go see them if you can. They are riding the upward curve, in my opinion.

Go to their website and listen to the song they've got set to play on their homepage. Honey Butter I think it's called. It's a great representation of their sound, style, and ability. Their drummer is off the hook. I mean that. He's f'n incredible. Tim's a class A guitar player and songwriter. New bass player as of January. Haven't seen him yet. My 2cents? see em.
