So, I may be going today. I've never seen or heard Scott and Mark as a duo. Does Scott just play his acoustic or will he be bringing out his electric also? Also, I read somewhere that there will be a special guest. Anyone know who that will be? Thanks!

Hey you upstate New Yorkers - I have two tickets to each Buffalo and Syracuse for PL&F. Great seats too - I got them via GDTS. Check out the PhilZone discussion board. Face value + shipping. Too much travel is wearing me out so I am not going to these shows.

Hey folks, is 9/5/98 available anywhere? I had the tapes at one point, but in one fleeting moment I gave all my tapes away to an appreciative fellow. That was the first show that I dragged my then girlfriend, now wife, to. Man, I'm looking for the recordings of the year with the crazy storm then the clearing at Sterling Stage, and the year before that. Mainly, the one with the reggae/Jerry Garcia version of Knockin' on Heaven's Door, and some sweet drums that got caught in the tape flip. And how about a Toad's show? I'm throwing the 4th Annual Holiday Hoe-down on Friday December 7th, how about a show on the 8th? peace!

Hey Pickle - it seems we are classmates. I too was class of 1988 (Culinary farts) from old Joe and Sal's cooking skool. The only thing I learned at that school was that Creek was my favorite band and that's all that really mattered. Wednesday nights at Lupo's was my favorite class I ever took while living in Providence... Anyone out there remember Babyhead?

I was joking with the internet crack . . . but seriously . . . I think Gore would have made a fine president. He did run a lousy campaign in 2000 though. Shouldn't have even been close. I have friends who want him to run this time, but I can't help but think he'd screw it up again. Not to mention, he seems to be having a fine time right now. Why in the hell would he want to jump into all that insanity again?

Sweens, negotiating treaties and whatnot are not standard criteria for the Peace Prize . . . Last year's winner was Mohammad Yunus, whose focus is microlending in third-world countries. Activists like Shirin Ebadi from Iran and Aung San Suu Kyi from Myanmar have won the prize . . . so did Doctors Without Borders . . . and let's not forget our own MLK. And no, I didn't know all those names off the top of my head. Here's the cheat sheet: http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/peace/laureates/index.html

boris real shocker there. not politically motivated either. heck NOBEL changed the rules so AL could win. He has never negotiated a peace treaty or uplifted anyone out of poverty which typical recipients have. (compared to say Jimmy CArter for example). On the closest show: In 1987-1988, when I was young (and fairly stupid) I lived less than 200 yards from the old Lupo's in a cockroach infested dorm when I attended Johnson and Wales (when all else fails, try Johnson and Wales!). Every Wednesday night was a good night for me. A show you can walk to is always a good show. Looking forward to Mark & Scott this Sunday at Hyland.

Yup. By any other parameters, The Cell Block 11 was a nondescript, funky, concrete block located in a desolate area of Hartford under I84 that other nights doubled as a strip club. And yes, I remember setting up and we were all saying "Damn, this is a shithole..." But in retrospect we got along great with the staff and management, and seemed to always have at least an okay show there. And, better, to this day I think one is hard put to find a better "live" album: the production and energy on "Drink the Stars" is at least up there with some of the "Allman Bros at the Fillmore," or "Live Dead" material. Just my two cents of course...

What about The Globe? Is that place still open? Anybody know anyone with any landscaping/construction experience that needs a job in CT? Year-round salary, overtime, crazy overtime for snow plowing, vacation, paid holidays, benefits, profit sharing, 401k, tuition reimbursement, blah, blah, blah....it's a pretty sweet deal. They'll need a valid drivers license and have to be able to drive a trailer, or learn, the ability to speak Spanish and use Office are a plus. peace!

maple tree may have a smaller stage area (i think its a better room than hoops) but they also have the huge dining area that the crowd (if big enuff) could overflow too. however, they will never play there out of loyalty to mr antonio, which is kind of lame (no offense steve) and leaves us with 1 room in the farmington valley. ct has colleges? haha....they are outdoor stages in ct i hear too

Are you sure Bob? Is that right? excuse me if I am misunderstanding, however, there is Toad's Place and tons of other venues in New Haven right in the heart of Yale, Southern CT Univ. and Quinnipiac Univ., then there is West Ct. Univ. in Danbury, a few venues in that area, there are several venues in Stamford where UConn is located... i dunno... that just seems like a lame excuse for not booking in CT.

Hmm don't know about that. Seems to me it's always devolved to a complex set of parameters: 1) the band doesn't want to book the club for whatever reason, and/or b) the club doesn't want to book the band for whatever reason.

The night clubs these day's in CT are not close to most any college, thats what gave the head count most of the time in CT in year's past, so it's hard for creek to book lot's of show's in CT, but some will come soon it's getting to be that time of year again. Peace!!

Assembly of Dust leader Reid Genauer was violently ejected from Boston’s The Roxy after Assembly of Dust’s performance. According to the singer, he was trying to escort some friends and family backstage after his performance when the night club's manager refused to let them pass. When Genauer protested, the club's manager told him and the rest of his band to “get out.” The Roxy has had recent tension with the City of Boston after the club’s capacity was reduced from 1300 to 750 following a violent incident in the club. “He was shouting get out at me, the band, our wives. It was almost comical given we had literally just gotten off the stage 10 minutes prior,” says Genauer. When Genauer refused to leave, the Roxy's manager called for bouncers to physically remove Genauer from his own show. In the confusion that ensued Jack Trifiro, Assembly of Dust's tour manager, was punched by security. “In hindsight,” says Genauer, “it was really ludicrous. I’m a 5’9” geeky singer, not exactly a security risk for a gang of 300 pound bouncers.”

Plus ToMMy it got such high rating they will do a plague at every 3rd game from now on. Game 3 of the WS will be frogs. Plus for Joe to last 12 years under George is a bigger feat than the WS. From the county where drunk driving is considered a sport, comes this true story. Recently a routine police patrol parked outside a bar in Ellsworth, Maine after last call the officer noticed a man leaving the bar so apparently intoxicated that he could barely walk. The man stumbled around the parking lot for a few minutes, with the officer quietly observing. After what seemed an eternity in which he tried his keys on five different vehicles, the man managed to find his car and fall into it. He sat there for a few minutes as a number of other patrons left the bar and drove off. Finally he started the car, switched the wipers on and off--it was a fine, dry summer night--,flicked the blinkers on and off a couple of times, honked the horn and then switched on the lights. He moved the vehicle forward a few inches, reversed a little and then remained still for a few more minutes as some more of the other patrons' vehicles left. At last, when his was the only car left in the parking lot, he pulled out and drove slowly down the road. The police officer, having waited patiently all this time, now started up his patrol car, put on the flashing lights, promptly pulled the man over and administered a breathalyzer test. To his amazement, the breathalyzer indicated no evidence that the man had consumed any alcohol at all! Dumbfounded, the officer said, I'll have to ask you to accompany me to the police station. This breathalyzer equipment must be broken." "I doubt it," said the truly proud Redneck. "Tonight I'm the designated decoy."

a fight in POK? man, i 'memba walking home alone from the moe.linnium show at the Chance in the early early morn of 01/01/00 and when i turned the corner and cut thru this parking lot two huge swarms of people were in the process of rushing towards each other to mix it up, weapons drawn and everything. it was this surreal 3-D war 360 degrees around me. i didn't tarry, as you might suspect. i just ran without feet touching the ground, scared to even look over my shoulder. bizarre.

For the record, Go Ahead was not a weir band. It was Billy the K, Brent, Jerry Cortez, Dave Margen, and Alex Ligertwood. Very good indeed. It was fun to see Billy step up to the mic and speak to the crowd. They were my very first show at the old Lupo's in 1986. I would start seeing Creek there soon after...

Thanks for the advice. I'm already doing the things you suggested. Trial and error has led me to believe that the sample rate switch on the Edirol is meaningless when recording from a digital source. I did do a test sending an analog source to the Edirol set to 48khz and it recorded fine on the NJ3, which leads me to believe the issue I'm having is good old SCMS.

there's a knob on the ua5 that sets the sample rate .. 48k is one notch below 44.1 .. my jb3 automatically detects the sampling rate .. you just need to record optical in and it should see that it's a 48k signal

Tony, 48khz should be a choice when you are uploading to wav. It should display the options for you to choose from, try unplugging the input and then plugging it bACK IN TO SEE If it gives you options then, but there should be no reason that you need to get any extra things to make it work.

Hi, I'm looking for some help with a Nomad Jukebox 3. I'm trying to transfer some DAT tapes, preserving the digital signal. I'm attempting to come out of my DAT deck with a coax digital into an Edirol UA-5, and then out with an optical into the Nomad. The Nomad does not seem to recognize the 48khz signal. There does not seem to be any visual indication on the Nomad of the sample rate detected on the incoming connection. I was able to confirm using headphones that all of my digital cables are working, and the Nomad does pick up a 44.1 signal via optical from the Edirol. So it seems I need to do something different on the jukebox, perhaps a firmware upgrade to get it to recognize 48khz rate. I see many tape lineages on etree that seem to indicate it is possible to record 48khz optical in with the Nomad. If you can offer any assistance, please email me at tonymasiello ATA yahoo. TIA! Peace!

Opening act for John McEnroe's band ??? ....thats just not right. I remember seeing the Creek opening for Go Ahead or Kokomo (one of those Weir bands from the mid-80's) at the Agora in the mid 80's and Creek opened and did a blistering opening single set. It had to have been difficult for Weir to follow them. Then the same thing was repeated at the Ritz in NYC a few nights later.

hard drives over 250 each are one of the more damage prone drives i've seen...my new goal for my computer is to pick up an eSATA card, which Best Buy just got, and hook up my new external HD to that, and have that as a backup...the cards even support RAID, so you could mirror or stripe with little to no effort. Norton does suck...myself, I use Trend Micro PCcillin. I've used Webroot before and found it good, but the new 08 trend micro is great.

welp new OS loaded. no voice software loaded yet, so not much from me right now :) broke a capacitor off the graphics card :( so i had to order a new one from newegg :((( oh well so far norton has cost me over $200. nasty nasty letter coming. AMD i love they run cooler and draw less power. if going for dual-core get the high 4000s or the 5000 models. 2Gb is right. my computer shop says the sata drives above 250Gb fail the most, so stick with the 250s. seagate has a 5 yr warranty tho. auuuuuuuuuuuuuug enough computer for me i'm off to enjoy the day

happy bday JARdale! Here's a couple of unique gift ideas for anyone on your list, inspired by my recent bday and my truly awesome friends: ;-) www.kiva.org ~ you can buy a gift certificate so that the recipient can donate to help an entrepreneur in a developing country. So many choices... who to help? And www.wearyourmusic.org ~ guitar string bracelets from a whole variety of awesome musicians, with the proceeds going to the Rex Foundation and other charities. So in a nod to G-Love, i got dobro d'addario strings for my things, baby! :-)

I shut mine off when not accessing it,most parts that die do so due to heat.I also have a WD My Book 160 gb with one touch internal drive backup I've had for about a year.I would suggest researching external TB options, what I am heading towards.I've so far seen one brand available at a Staples,it was going for 340 or so.Haven't researched it yet.

and thanks for all of the advice about computers....the "say no to Vista" message is received loud and clear...I have heard that from everyone including the computer shop...as far as storing music, I like the 2 500 gb internal hard drive system...as sweet as the 4 TB deal sounds, $1,900 is a bit over budget for music storage at this time...how bout processors?....AMD?...Intel?...

actually pzen I purchased the AVG Malware, which is both virus checking and spyware, worms, trojans (he said Trojan, hheheheheh)...the license is good for two years, not one (like norton), and support is free. http://www6.grisoft.com/doc/2212/us/crp/0 $45 but worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.
