JW is right let me tell ya. the east coast does not have a venue to match grand targhee or hornings hideout or red rocks or the greek theater. the closest type of venues are that berkshire ski area that creek played at in 2000 & 2001 and bucksteep manor and the wormfest gigs, but the ski place was run half-ass and you never knew if they'd be in business or not or turn you away even if you had tix, bucksteep is gone and although the wormfest stuff is nice and in a field, it's still subject to crappy east coast weather and east coast hassles. even at camp i was hassled about my aspirin, some dumbass biker didn't even know about the plastic thing they put in aspirin to keep out the moisture. and while bucksteep was nice, and the wormtown gigs are at nice venues, let's face it, besides creek, the talent level is local yokels, there is dave grisman there, or danny barnes or sam bush, it's fun, but it's local bands.......and i don't want a lot of bad feedback on that cuz most of you folks are just there to see creek anyways.

but you got to say that those of us old enough to go to the large stadium/civic center type shows had it made. I mean now its DMB, OAR, U2 (every 3 yrs)...who eles is BIG and drawing 12-15 thousand people a nite? back in the 70's/80's you had so many great bands that could fill it up. think YES, Tull, Marshall Tucker, CDB, J Geils, Stones, the Who, Led Zep, Floyd, CSN , Y, springsteen, A Bros (hey there still drawing Big), Skynyrd, Doobies to name a few

Wavy, the only thing I'm knocking is GOTV: I attended two, and while having a good time, *always* had to deal with some forms of BS in the process. Truth be told, I just have not been a big fan of GOTV nor Terrapin -- and remember, I was attending events like Newport Folk Festival more anyway. I'll just stop here...as long as you guys are having fun, that's what matters. That said, there is never anything wrong with expanding your horizons either. Peace, and make it a great day.

To those coming up on Saturday: I have posted some pics of the field, so you know what you are coming to: http://s52.photobucket.com/albums/g31/picklefreek/Field/ . The Field is divided into 3 sections. The top half has been hayed and mowed and looks like a golf course. In this area, you can drive and camp anywhere you like. The back left quarter has been hayed this week and again, you can drive/camp anywhere you want (to access this area, it is behind the main music tent and my camper). The back right quarter was hayed about 3 or 4 weeks ago. This area is open for camping, but no driving in this area. There are some wonderful places to camp in this area, but equipment must be lugged in (I will have a nice wagon for you to use if you want). If you have any questions, just ask either me, Eileen, JM or Marty for advise. Good times to come for sure!!

Apples and oranges JW. Some people like Vegas some like Branson. I would hate the Vibes if it were like Greyfox or Clearwater. I enjoy the madness and the energy. Maybe in 40 years when I'm SK's age I will want something more sedate but till then give me Vegas and Insanity at the Vibes. I think the main problem is a lot of the Vibes attendees have gotten too old to go but can't admit it's AARP time.

Hey why pay to let people trash you. If you check the TerpBoard every year its a lot of the same folks blasting them. Too many of the Vibes fans are very sure they are the only ones who know what Jerry would do. I love how the same folks who trashed the ILCC are now praising them. What a weird morning! I just finished painting my front door bright red... and it felt strangely empowering! ;-) I also found out that the creature in my backyard that i've thought all along was an owl, is actually just a big dumb pigeon or dove or something. Hi, folks! I'm sure over the next few days, SK and I will be posting words on the most wonderful Grand Targhee Bluegrass Festival. The vibes and overall scene were truly laid back...and I mean WAAAAAY laid back! The music was superb from start to finish, and Grand Targhee itself a beautiful venue all the way. Plenty of picking fun to be had and I took plenty of fine photos. SK and I will probably have different votes about "MVP" for the festival, but this won't be my last Grand Targhee for sure. A winner of a most intimate little festival...SK, hope you got home safe, bud! Let's just say if Creek ever played there, you would be in a little paradise all your own.

I started to get into Creek in 1988 and I went to every Wednesday at the Living Room in the Summer of 1989. Whenever I see those setlists that Ed posts from that year I always think that those were the friggin days. Not to say that the band does not kill it today- I love the gigs now... for all kinds of different reasons.. but 89' - yes!!!! BTW: I 've made a decision to only post about the band from now on...sue me.....

Still in recovery over this weekend. This was my best Vibes by far. Even I cried at during Bobby's set. Geeeeez. Our campsite was dry... frisbee on the beach with DQ playing 50 feet away... a random meeting with Vicki Vox... flying kites... Creek Freaks everywhere in site... dancing with P-Funk and Poo Poo late night... Wavy... slide whistles... flushable toilets... Les and Bobby doing Tomorrow Never Knows... kind peeps... the statue's ass... DBB in black tie performing James Brown tunes was my highlight. And getting Ken Hayes to dance in the street...priceless. I must say the jiggle factor was better at the Vibes than CC. Step it up Creek Lady's. I had a blast. The rain didn't hamper too much. P Fuck was mad. Les was crazy and Bobby had me in tears during Ripple. Very bittersweet I really have not been able to listen to the Dead since '95. Now everyone on the Terrapin board is telling how mean Mr Hays robbed all the little love children and stole the sunshine from the world. Now for the real funny part is all the Terrapin Board losers are talking about how at least the ILCC guys treated you with respect. Oh wait last year it was how the big mean biker yelled at me. The top 10 reasons I'm glad I don't work at the Vibes anymore 1-9 the attendees, 10 the attendees.

I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Duffy has some Bonedippers recorded. He recorded ALOT of music around their era. And thanks Stretchy. We definitely found a groove. I think we made a pretty big splash too. We had a teriffic night and ALOT of support from our friends so we made a pretty good impression for our first gig there. Does anybody (in Rochester) remember a band called the Bonedippers???? I would love to get some live recordings of them. They used to play The Warehouse Or was it the HBB at that time. I was at that 4/7/01 Show- it was killer:-)..I lived in Nederland at the time and really lucked out that Creek came out there that year...I also hit the Englewood and Fort Collins shows. When I was going into one of the show where Umphrey's was opening up, all these people were leaving after UM's set. When I asked where they were going, they said, "Well, the shows over..." They had never heard of Creek..I convinced them to stay and they thanked me afterwards.

Really enjoyed listening to the 4/2/73 Boston show, there was a cool little jam that sounded like it could have been the beginning of 'Unbroken Chain' Then they kicked into 'Eyes'. But the trains put its brakes on. It was about this time I was waking up at Shoeys Apt in the city. We saw Bob and Rob the night before in the park. I still remember picking up his phone and hearing him ask "Is Jerry Dead?". I got in my car drove all the way back to CT. All along the Saw Mill Pkwy I was getting honks and peace signs flashed at me from people who were visibly upset. Not one or two but many. I got home stood in my house for 2 minutes and turned around and drove back to the City. If you are in NYC and someone like Jer passes you somehow end up at Strawberry Fields in the park whether you mean to or not. Probably the first time I can say I was truly confused.

zap what did you think? I was impressed, great sound. Jerry Douglas sounded sweet. The 2nd half of the show got a bit boring until Oh Atlanta. But Alison's voice is flat out amazing no matter what she sings. Quite the goofball on stage too:)

hi- semi-reg poster here, choosing 2b anon this time. i've been taking care of my dad for the past yr+. he's had a lot of health probs, mainly alcohol-related. i was at his house on sunday, did chores, went shopping etc. a couple of hours later he called and wanted some bottled h20. i was busy (and annoyed) but told him i'd be over. anyway, decided screw 'em, he can drink from the kitchen sink. went there next day w/ 2 gals of h20 and found him dead on the floor, bloodstains everywhere from where he tried to get a drink. long story short, not feeling 2 good right now. sorry, had to vent cuz i don't have a lot of people 2 talk to.

Sweens, it was really nice to meet you Friday night. It's been a while since I met a forum friend. You introduce yourself and talk for a couple minutes, but the dynamics change when the forum name is given and you feel like you know a person so much better. I really enjoyed seeing Mmmark so close to home. I went to Burbank Park last year as well and would definitely recommend it to anyone who can go. It is a beautiful place. I just went there on Sunday for a hike and a swim. Bring a bathing suit. The water is oh so nice.

High, folks! On the way up to Grand Targhee outside Pinedale, I saw a small resort place on route 119 called...Camp Creek Inn!! Also a cool wooden-log font Camp Creek sign. Took photos of both and will be forwarding when I get home. sk...if you see this before flying out, call me. I'll tell ya, folks...the last two hours of the drive were sweet, and the Grand Targhee Ski Resort here most definitely does not suck!!! Take care, folks...methinks life is gonna be sweeeeeeeeeet this week.
