Loved vernville late night as well, rev torr it up, peev is the real deal holyfield, loved the keyboards, mark stayed up late.. unfortunately made it back to our site to have our food cooler stolen...keen enough to secure our beer cooler..almost pissed myself laughing at the rats who opened a cooler to find half a stick of butter and some salsa, maybe some soggy burger...then as Karma has it ...a new friend donates to the beer cooler for the cause...sunday was awesome.. today was the penance..Thank you Max Crek!

Great weekend, great music, great company, and many, many thanks all around -- Jack H. for the 'cue, Rick & Lorrie for the hospitality, Derek for hard work above and beyond the call of duty, and everybody for just being such great, great friends. And of course the Creek for being not just a great band but the center of gravity for this whole thing of ours.

That was a great weekend. It was our first year with the baby so that was interesting. He had fun, got to meet X and Rider as well as Pevar. Let me just say that Pevar is one of the nicest people I think I have ever met. As far as the tunes are concerened it was a spectacular event. Ciderhouse on Friday afternoon was excellent. The singer Callie has an unbelievable set of Pipes. They did a really cool cover of Doorbell by the White Stripes. Midnight sun was great. Four stellar musicians having a blast doing what they love, it doesn't get better than that. Plus, I haven't seen Bob Laramie play bass since The Zywacks. Banooba, who I never heard of before, were alot of fun. Fungus Amungus tore the roof of the place with a rippin' version of Frankenstein. Up until their set at Camp I didn't think they were very good and wondered why they had such a good time slot. But now, I think they are onto something. Guitarness, well, you know when those two guys play guitar together it just rules. Kashmir was unreal! Yes, Dave Livolsi is the man. After that Peter Prince put his Moonboot down and tired everyone out for Saturday.DQ was alot of fun but they should have had a better time slot. 10 to 1 was great and they closed out with a great cover of Give it Away. Brett and friends with Allshouse was excellent as well, and once again it's another two guys who just shred when they play together. Rev tor band with Mercier at Vernville was sweet. Ryan Montbleau bands cover of She Blinded me with Science was cool. As for Creek, they just rule. Chnaging the tempo on Said and done, adding a vocal jam into Louisiana Sun and Scotty all out tearing up during Leaves, were high points for me. The Sam kinninger Band, Named for the Sax player I think, was good, alyhough I think he was probably the least talented guy in the band, their axeman was great. The kind buds played alot of sweet acoustic dead on Sunday a.m. I really liked the Breadbox Band. Did the Brew play the theme to Full House? or Night Rider? THen Yonder was great doing a killer Girlfriend is Better. For the last song they had the Gong people on each side of the crowd and they had them build up steam with them. As the band picked faster the gongs got louder. I made for one epic climax to their set. Lastly, Creek came out and ruled because that's what they do. MAX CREEK RULES!!!!! So thanks Creek! It was great to see everyone we haven't in awhile as well as meet alot of new people. I can't wait until next year.

Thanks Max Creek, Eric, Derek, Mike, Costa and all. Another magical weekend... fantastics sunsets, great moon Saturday night. Fun hanging with Shooey, Chris & Adrian and everyone on Thursday night for some accoustic jams. Friday: hot as hell, but loved Banooba & Fungus Amungus once the sun went down. Glad the rain pretty much held out for Saturday. Saturday: Great weather, great fun... Brett & friends was freakin awesome (Keep that line up guys). Ryan Montbleau Band was good as always. Sam Kiniger Saturday night was DA BOMB!.. Wish more people had experienced it but I guess Vernville was happening at the same time. You missed one of the great highlights of the weekend. Creek was fantastic on Saturday (The Field!), but I thought the second set got a bit too mellow in the middle. However, Sunday's set was GREAT! Loved yellow Moon, Emerald eyes, well alright and the bug. Yonder Mountain was perfect for Sunday... just loved it. S&A... Love you guys thanks for everything.

Tommy...Agreed!!!...(gosh I sure wish this message board had emoticons)Dave Livosi (Guitarness bassist) I believe was the class of the entire field of bassists to perform at Camp this year. He is an outstanding musician. Truly knows his craft (and his role) like few others I've had the opportunity to see live.

Tony, hit me with an email. I am simply in awe of the Kruger Brothers as human beings. I connected with Jens, as he loved the fact I was really *into* his classes, and he shared many great philosophies with us. Another highlight: A half-dozen students and I participated in a slow pick session with Uwe Kruger, Robbie McCoury and Sandy Munro: I got to warble "Blues Stay Away From Me", and just to get to cue Uwe and Robbie for solos was simply TOO cool! And Uwe's philosophies and lack of ego -- and willingness to go AGAINST ego -- was another inspiration. Again, too much to tell here....I can't wait for next year's Academy.:-)

Hi, folks! Hope y'all had a great Camp Creek. Last week at the Rockygrass Academy was simply EPIC: Life could not have been better for me. It would take far too many posts to explain, but to get to learn banjo from Jens Kruger and Noam Pikelny, to get to friendly chats with both Kruger Brothers, to picking gospel in the St. Vrain river, to get to meet most of the Del band, to get to see Del, Robbie McCoury and Noam Pikelny pick a couple of tunes at the beginning of the last banjo class, to participate in my first band scramble...far too much to tell! REally, last week was one of the most inspiring weeks I've ever experienced in LIFE...and Rockygrass itself did not suck as always.

Camp F'ing CREEK! What a GREEEAAAT time! man, I had such a blast it's gonna be a day or three before I get my energy level back to where it needs to be. I want to thank MAX CREEK and all of my friends for one hell of a weekend. The music was KILLER! Guitarness Fri night was siiiick! Pevar and Murawski SHREDDED!... And...Creek's 2nd set Saturday night was also quite stellar. My musicial batteries are recharged once again....even if it was at the cost of my "internal battery". hahahahaaa... It's funny, but as I go through life it's so easy to get wrapped up in day to day things and forget about the things that really matter, like family and friends. This weekend helped put things back in perspective!!! It was such a treat to just spend some time with those I love, laughing and telling stories of days and Camps past. I am lucky to have such a wonderful group of people in my life. Thanks to all who who helped make this weekend...and my life...special.

Scott..... for some reason it's not working here at school. The link is good, it just won't connect. I'll check it out later when I get home. Thanks for the link. Hey.... I saw that sumo kid as well. He tried to sell me some bennie babies. Seriously, I did a double take. It was one of those, "Did that just happen?" moments.

Bosco...... I totally missed your Bubba post last night. Holy crap I laughed my ass off this morning when I saw it. Man, the drive was tough last night. I hate when you reach the point where even coffee isn't helping. But we made it home safe yet again. Another Camp in the books. I had a great time. I have to echo what Bosco said about the Sunday show. It was amazing........ and for some reason got even better after Creekhed left..... (jackass!!!!) Guitarness Friday was killer, total shredfest. Thanks to everyone that made Rochesterville one laugh after another. The biggest laugh of the weekend though came Friday night when Scott Allshouse did an Austin Powers impression with his golf cart between a truck and a tent. Whooooooooo!!! what a great time....beyond words...camp is my home away from home. The band sounded fantastic, the staff was courteous, and what can be better than getting crisp digi-discs in my grubby hands mere hours after the actual sets were played? Well, sex and frolf are pretty damn good, but this is Max Creek we're talking about. Thank you guys, thanks for playing, thanks for being here, thanks for being a swell bunch of guys! Lots of other great music: the Juggling Suns, Gordon Stone, the Kind Buds, YMSB, the Brew, Brett & friends, can't wait for next year! Thanks again to the rain for taking it easy on us.

Discs of the show are just getting on the pike. I cant wait to hear them. I went for 10 years straight and have missed the last 2, but I have a feeling I will be there next year. Sadly, sadly, sadly, won't be there for the festivities this weekend.First one I've missed in a long, long time.As most of you know I go back to the original CAMP FREAK'S in Bowdoinham,Maine, Oh so many moons ago.Who'da thunk that it would still be just as wonderful now as it was for us all that came up with this wild ass weekend of fun and frivolity way back then.I sure did. I know that Chris and Boyd and our dear friend Rob (God rest their souls are all smiling down saying "Fuckin A Man this is the shit")!I hope that each and everyone that is there is happy, smiling and safe enjoying themselves to the fullest extent possible because we are all family and we need to take care of each other. So look around you and know that the person standing in front of,behind and beside you are your brothers and sisters and the common denominator is that we all "LOVE and RESPECT" this great band. They pour their hearts out with each magical, mystical cord they play because of the "LOVE and RESPECT" we show for them.Max Creek's audiences for my humble opinion are the greatest audiences in the world. And as long as we all stand together and show the "LOVE and RESPECT" for one another CAMP CREEK will continue to be one of the greatest musical events there has been or ever will be! That being said,Hey my brother's, Mark how about "Katie Mae"? X how about "To Good For Shoes"? John how about "You Don't Know"? Long distance request's yeah but,hey you can't knock a guy for trying.Have fun everyone,I know you all will! Peace to one and all!

Stiney, We are sooooooooooo sorry to hear about your Grandma. We are thinking of you and sending lots of ((((hugs)))) your way. Here's a thought for you: Don't grieve for me comma, for now I'm free I'm following the path God set for me. I saw the light and I hear God call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work or play. Tasks left undone must stay that way... For I found a great peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss... Ah yes, these things, I too, will miss. Don't be burdened with time of sorrow, I wish you sunshine for tomorrow. My life has been full, I've savored so much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undo grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me. God called me now and set me free. We love you Stiney! Debbie, Kyle, and Grace

Kydd, I saw a mountain lion hiking alone in Quabbin Reservoir about 4 or 5 years ago. I was alone and quiet and it walked out in front of me. I then saw it again as I continued towards my car. It was a beautiful animal but it scared the shit out of me at the time. They are definitely around. A guy from Wendell found scat in Quabbin. If you look up mountain lions in the Quabbin area, there is a lot on the internet.

you don't pay tax on the defective one, you pay it on the replacement one. somethin' 'bout a state law or somethin'. i argued it the first time. but hey, a new $45 mattress for less than $3? that seems like a deal to me. of course, you could always save your receipt and not have to pay anything if you return it within 30 days (i think it is).

we got our air mattress at walmart ($45?). it's a good one..comfy, thick and easy to blow up. we have a battery powered pump (4 DD's). and yes, every camp we get a hole in it somehow. but walmart is so great you can return it and get a new one! even if you don't have your receipt! all you have to pay is the tax..last one was like? $2.45?

truck is mostly packed. Boy this new ride sure doesn't pack like the old one. I need more room or less stuff. But it's all good. Almost time for the big ride. These last days are the longest, until you start getting your stuff together and packing, then time flies by. Then it slows way down again after the packing is done and you are trying to sleep. Going over what's packed in your head and staring at the ceiling. Must sleep, last chance for a good night's sleep, why can't I sleep? Because it is CAMP CREEK time and I just can't wait. my .02. I saw the Police at Bonnaroo... well, heard them through the dusty air. I was excited to hear them live... never had before... and well... let's just say, they were so so. Invisible Sun and Walking on the Moon were stellar! Unfortunetly, they played Roxanne and it ruined the show for me. Did I mention I intensely dislike that song? I do. Although, I was most impressed with Andy's guitar playing more than anything else. Sting is HOT and Stewart is NOT!!! I enjoyed WEEN and many other much much more. Now BRING ON MAX CREEK!!!

Hey AMS...... you're waaaay too hip for me with your lingo about jumping sharks and stuff. It had to be all venue related at that show. I've never been a fan of shows that big. I would much rather see a band in a hockey barn than in a huge field. Better view and usually better sound, depending on where you are. And for the record.... I never said you were musically retarded, I just could'nt believe your harsh review, especially after I went to the show. You had me slightly worried going in, but afterward the only thing I could think was that you were smoking meth, or crack, or pcp, or menthols. I guess it comes down to personal opinion. But I bet you would have a different take if you saw them at a different venue...... or maybe they just had a bad night. Who knows? The true test will be at the Rochester base camp this weekend after the Saturday night Creek set. We always converge and review the show before embarking on the late night festivities. We'll have to get your take and then decide if you are either "musically retarded" or just smoking something. (by the way, there is an inside joke there that I will explain to you this weekend. Remind me.)

inevitably your mattress will have a leak and buying a new one is expensive, since you are paying for the pump. i recommend buying a coleman rechargeable pump and a mattress without a built-in pump. the coleman mattress costs $25 or less (painless to replace)...and the rechargeable pump (approx. $30) is convenient (my pump could probably fill 10 mattresses in one charge). i've found the ones with built in pumps seem to leak more often...could be a coincidence.

They have those power converters at radio shack. I had got a sweet one there years ago but lost it somewhere.

AC/DC car converters can be found at most auto stores. Cheap like $15 high end over $100.

morning y'all! JARdale, i'm glad The Police were good for you. I wasn't smoking meth, and I'm not totally musically retarded. I just thought it started off strong (hearing 80k ppl singing "message in a bottle" was way cool) but it totally fizzled off to the point where i was practically holding my ears by the "encore". They just didn't seem to be real into it, and Sting appeared to have jumped the shark of hotness by the end. Glad to hear they've pulled it together. See ya's at Camp! :-)

Has anybody heard of or seen any signs of mountains lions around here? The animal control officer in our town says there have been sightings. We lost a cat recently. I know it could be coyote or even fisher cat, but the thought of mountain lions out there? It's not something I would like to encounter out hiking.

Bon Scott died a pathetic, humiliating death. I wish the daily lyrical references from "Ride On" on this forum would do the same. Or any lyrical references for that matter. We know the fuckin songs already for Chrissake!!

Hello my Creek Family! I have missed you dearly in recent years, but no more! I have my ticket for Camp and it will be my first time going all alone. I know I will meet some of you wild souls as the days pass, but I love to laugh and dance and I'd love to do that with a camp buddy...anyone?

Ha ha... Sarahmonsterrrrr's don't bite, we just dance like crazy! Non-threatening, except when I can't feel the ground or myself dancing, then I'm bound to bump into people quite a bit, but never on purpose! Oh, but the most wonderful thing about Sarahmonsterrrrr's is I'm the only one! IIIIIIII'm the only one! ;)
