it's funny- growing up in the hudson valley i met so many people over the years who claimed to have seen hendrix do the star-spangled banner thing at woodstock. about ten years ago i finally got atound to watching the movie and i realized that there was no way that could've been true.

from what i've found, going back in and telling it to make the MP3s doesn't work. I'll try again though, maybe they fixed that. in the past they were saying to delete it and re-upload to make the mp3s, which is kinda alot of work.

Tonight we will be going back to Rockville for a viewing of the epic classic “Bonzo Basement 88” Dang that's nearly twenty years since it wrapped... I say we get the crew together and shoot a retrospective. I wish that boy was coming to camp.

yikes b, that must be creepy... I came home one night, and there was a fire in the woods behind my house, the police had the road that leads to my house was all blocked off by cruisers, I had to take a back way home, and didn't know about the fire until I saw it on the news that night... I had figured it was a traffic accident of some sort.

Now available at Internet Archive: "the closing of the Agora", June 30, 1989 at the then-renamed West Hartford Music Hall, made from Greg Logan's master cassettes. The labels don't say so, but this sounds to me like a soundboard? (I put it up as aud, since I don't know.) Set 1: Louisiana Sun - Dark Water, The Weight, Brown Eyed Girl, Pissed Off, WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS - Dream - Windows. Set 2: Orange Sunshine - Let It Roll, Big Boat, DRIFT AWAY, Mystery Train (with Alyce Bertz of Hot Acoustics on violin), Gypsy Blue, Just a Rose - Drums/Space - You Can't Always Get What You Want - Slow Down. Encore: Will the Circle Be Unbroken (with band and staff introductions). Go to http://www.archive.org/details/mc1989-06-30.flac16

The alignments of the Sun, Moon, and all the planets at the moment of the New Moon indicate the themes for the coming 4-week cycle. Something new begins at the New Moon, and the Full Moon shows how the New Moon themes will manifest. During the first half of the cycle (New Moon to Full Moon), we build and develop events, awareness, feelings and goals that correspond to the New Moon themes. During the second half of the cycle (Full Moon to the next New Moon), we apply, integrate and work with these themes.
Therefore, the New Moon horoscope shows what the themes are for the whole four-week cycle, and the Full Moon horoscope describes how these themes are likely to manifest and unfold for the second half of the cycle. Each person is affected a bit differently, depending on their Sun Sign ― the Sign corresponding to your birthday.

I think he's serious about entertaining..he makes soft social political connotations, and he incorporates some comedy,I think he appeals to anyone who enjoys the lyrical wistfulness of Phish/Dude of Life,a similar philosophical cantor if you will....nothing really dark or angsty about him,and he has sort of a Jack Johnson way about him, that soft popular Dave Matthews vibe.

Keller did the multiple guitar stands playing at the same time,entertaining...I saw X play 3-4 voices of music concurrently at the Leon Russell show he played at.That was awesome, and it was his debut of Chains of Life.Hearing that during the acoustic set at Camp would rock.

Cotton Fields' success depends on emotional placement imo,it doesn't work just any ol' where...I loved it in the late 80-early 90s..last time I caught one at Lupos in 99,it didn't fit the flow.Still made me smile though :)...I loved the 'What is the Reason' breakout at Camp last year.

An inflatable astronaut appeared during "Perfect Sense 1 & 2." In one video sequence, Earth is seen from space and then an open air stadium gets zoomed in on. Instead of two competing teams, however, the stadium playing field was shown as being a deep body of water with a oil rig at one end and submarine approaching at the other end. Gun fire erupted from the platform but it was destroyed in an enormous explosion after being hit by the sub's torpedoes. Not surprisingly, an inflatable pig appeared during "Sheep," with more anti-war and anti-Bush slogans spray painted on. from 6/28/07 winnipeg review....the rest here for Wates...http://blogcritics.org/archives/2007/07/03/084228.php

On a side note...and since this does not conflict with Creek...I highly recommend catching the Infamous Stringdusters when they roll into your neck of the woods: Club Passim on July 17, Cafe Nine (New Haven) on July 18, and at Grey Fox. These six richly talented lads have it all: Sterling musicianship, great vocals (especially fiddler Jeremy Garrett), fine material, and tasty ensemble interplay. These kids are unquestionably among the future of acoustic music. Again...the Infamous Stringdusters.

Hi, folks! JARDale...the reason why Waters tickets are so expensive comes down to two words: Live Nation! Anything thinking otherwise is not looking at the business end of the picture. High ticket prices have caused me to do far less "big" shows and doing small shows and festivals. For example, as of this time, I'm only doing three shows at Red Rocks this Summer, and two of those are by Dylan. No, I'm not seeing Ratdog at Red Rocks because of the Rockygrass Academy, but I already know I won't miss much (despite Kimock). Creek content: Creek's ticket prices have always been dirt cheap...thank you, guys!

Hey Smiles...... I seem to remember someone saying last year that they saw a Water's show and the pig got away there as well. I don't remember if it was on here or another forum but someone else saw him at another show and said that the same thing happened there as well. I think it's something he does at every show. That's why tix are so expensive. Giant, inflatable pigs ain't cheap. Let one go per show and it starts to get expensive.

just jokin' about the ummagumma request...this other dude in LA pulled the same balloon stunt some years back, and in fact encroaches on LAX airspace, prompting calls from commercial jet pilots (would LOVE to hear those exchanges with the boys in the tower "continental 420, you, uh, been drinkin?"). the dude brought along a bb gun to shoot the balloons for descent, but if memory serves he dropped the gun (!), but as he got higher the colder air started popping the balloons and he miraculously landed safely. when questioned by the authorities he simply stated that "a man can't just sit around." tragically, however, the guy had some mental problems (no shit) and killed himself not too long after...

High, folks! First...glad to see the Forum back. Next...numerous thank yous to PZen for recording last weekend's Creek gigs and kindly sharing the matrixes on archive.org. Thank you again, PZen!:-) Last night, I listened to the first three tunes from Friday night (and figuring out banjo parts to "You Write The Book" in the process). Following up on Derek, When I saw NRPS 4 months back, their show at the Boulder Theater ran two sets, and at almost 3.5 hours of music. It may generally be "the Buddy and Nelson show", but the band is certainly solid: I would certainly see them again next time they're around. As for the "What I'm Up To" department...besides plenty of picking and practicing, Acoustic Hot Tuna at the Gothic on Saturday, e-Town with Jorma/Barry and Page McConnell at the Boulder Theater on Sunday, Uncle Bob on my b-day and 7/20 at Red Rocks, then the Rockygrass Academy, then Rockygrass. I am seriously **stoked** for the Rockygrass Academy; getting to learn some banjo tricks from Noam Pikelny, Jens Kruger and Robby McCoury; and hope to get into Del's songwriting class! Ok, that's geek stuff, but it's generally all good....hope it is for y'all too. Ciao!

Hey Harry's mom~ you have mail! Kids are fun at camp... I love having Jeffrey and Bobby's older kids with us. The worms do a great job with the kids tent, they bring lots of toys for the kids to play with, and use a good sized circus-style tent to provide shade for kids and parents. This year we just might have an adults only year though, just for kicks and giggles... I think it's been four years, maybe more, since I attended a music festival without children.

To anyone who didn't make it: you missed a fabulous day at the beach, and some outrageously smokin' hot music. It was truly like an "Eastover at the Beach". It was THAT good. So mark your calendar for next year... you won't regret it! :-)

saw the movie "Bobby" last nite. A must see. tingling similarities to the political landscape at hand today (unpopular war, polarized nation, immigration re Mexicans--or new "niggas" as called in the movie). Not a documentary at all but the story of the people who happen to be at the Ambasador Hotel the day RFK was shot, including interesting story of 2 "latino" kitchen workers and two young Kennedy staffers that get "Turned on" for the 1st time.

Looks like some great shows this past weekend. So I was watching that Live Earth concert last night and the Police came on. I was psyched because not only do I like them, but I am going to see them on the 23rd. They played a couple of tunes and sounded pretty good, except Sting's voice sounded slightly worn, probably from all the shows they have been doing. Anyway, they pause between songs and announce that they are bringing out a friend to sit in..... John Mayer. Now I'm not a big John Mayer guy, but I do know that he can play a mean guitar so I actually was a little psyched. They then launched into Message In A Bottle and I got even more psyched because I figured that either John or Andy would smoke a guitar solo at the end of the tune. Well things were going ok but in the middle of the tune Sting introduces Kanye West (sp?) who procedes to come out and do some lame rap which I could have written. It was brutal. It was like 5 or 6 lines long and then the only thing he could do was walk around the stage going "Oh", "Uh", "Yea", over and over and over and over and repeating whatever Sting sang. I honestly was like "Please shut the F*ck up!!!!" It was embarrassing. The guy does'nt play an instrument, can't sing, and just killed the end of the song. Plus, when he came out, John Mayer dissapeared. It would have been fine if he came out, did his rap and then left, but for some reason he thought he had something to add by staying. Looking....... judges.......... NO!!!!!

Good shows this weekend, and good times with good company. Last night was the first time I've gone from a lobster dinner to a Creek show. I could get used to that . . . !

http://launch.ph.groups.yahoo.com/group/maxcreek/photos/view/8128?b=1...Boris and Costa are flanking the tall guy in white tee in the center of the pic...I'm thinking this show..03/31/89--Massachusetts Bay Community College,Wellesley, MA...were you at this show?
.....Creekhed,I was at that show as well! That was the show that I slapped my head on a marble pillar sidestage during Who Do You Love haha.I do agree the crowds were not really into the participating stuff.Around 1990 or so the circle dances were waning as well.:(..I remember the new years show at the Paramount, during Circle be Unbroken, and here I am scream out the lyrics for the crowd part, and John says from the stage,'come on,don't make this guy look like a fool',(well, thats what my brain heard anyways),maybe 30 percent of the crowd was into it.

Great show, fun place, packed house..the sound in general was clean and crisp, well mixed...decent stage lighting for the size of the venue...atmosphere of folks getting off the ferry and milling in the streets was nice to experience pre-show..Mama Tried, sweet breakout, took a second I knew it wasn't Dead Pipes but my brain took a sec to register...John has been using the chords for Come Together to tune up before the shows for months, was nice to see it come out....I was psyched when ICU came out, been awhile, but then someone surfed a nice helping of their beer into my equipment bag,:((...thank Ian and ERIC for the second encore, hehe.

sometimes, a condition of going to a show for us is we stay for the first set and then if conditions are okay we stay for the second set -- otherwise we leave. That way, everyone is happy. We pay to see the band and give our Energy to them in the first set. sounds like we would have been right at home last night, sorry we did not make it...

well, that was a fun trip to the beach last night. It was fantastic to see everybody and of course to enjoy the creek in a fairly intimate setting. I expected the place to be bigger. The first set was very old school, reminiscent of earlier days. Highlights for me were darlin, willow tree, mama tied, leaves. Triple encore to cap it off. Can't wait till camp, keeping my fingers crossed for no snags along the way. To Max Creek...Thank you for a real good tme. :)

the ronald mcdonald crew only made it for the first set but was very pleased. August West was once again lit up without alcohol or drugs which would have only hindered the flight. Loved that a crowd of 25 or so over 45 showed up all together and packed the place. Opening band really good(bass was unreal). No one showed up in their ronald mcdonald costumes so we had a lot of of big macs and fries for a late night snacky snack.

yeah dave, i gotta concur with bosco, chele, nagger etc. even the best treatment programs have just a 20% success rate, so going it alone or doing things on your own terms makes things difficult. it looks like you had a positive day yesterday, but you know as well as anybody that it won't always be so. at least with meetings you'll get some phone numbers to call when you're just hanging on by your fingertips. and don't let the "god" thing distract you. too many people (myself incl) let that interfere with getting better. in some cases (myself incl) it was just an excuse to keep using narcotics. i'm sure you know what it's like to have a devil on your shoulder. flick that old bastard off, attend meetings, get to know people in recovery, and "fake it til you make it."

I should correct myself. I'm a member of N.A. and it's a spiritual (not religious) program. So you're free to believe or not believe whatever you like. I don't know, and can't speak to the other programs except at the A.A. meetings I've attended they close with the "our father who art in heaven" prayer.

My experience is that going to parties where drinking and smoking were going on (even if I abstained) was not good for me in early recovery. I gained a false sense of strength and a belief in a will power that didn't exist. And I slipped. I've had feelings similar to yours my first few days clean. You may be in what we call the "pink cloud" phase. Be careful. Really dude...from someone who knows...from someone who beat his head against the wall for years trying to "get it right"...a meeting a day for 90 days is what people told me to do when I first got clean. I didn't understand why. I didn't want to. But I did it anyways because I knew my way wasn't working. And it laid the foundation for everything I have today.

DAVE - glad to hear you made it through day 3! look forward to day 4. just remember, some days are easier than others and you should not wait to go to NA (or aa) until you are desperate - use it now, learn from those who have been there before, take in what is there for the taking. trust that we are all pullng for you!

Well this was odd. went to boarderland to hike for a bit. No booze there.
turns out there was a wedding going on. someone i knew.
odd thing is, is im happier than ive ever been. I had no clue that she was getting married. But i am elated for her.
Glad she found someone who will treat her right. I think ive smiled more today, than i have in ten years. Shes free and so am I. Life is good. i was so stoked to be rid of this, that i didnt even go to the meeting. I went to a party with music instead. there was drinking and herb everywhere, and i had no desire to use at all. Day three. no booze no drugs. when im down, i use. I am pretty darn up right now. :) God is giving me more strength than i ever counted on. Im happy for them both. take care of each other. Thanks for all the advice folks. if i feel down, ill hit some meetings. today was a great day. i still dont get it myself, but it was.
Life is good. In fact i have a music request for the band.
Im wondering if they'd play a cover of "Brown eyed Girl." for them both at the next show. That would rock.
Peace.

Hey everyone. Had soo much fun last night at the Wheelhouse. Ed, are you the one I met last night? You told me I should be dancing up front??? I've never posted on here before, but ahve been seeing Creek since 88. I finally hopped on the technology train (barely hanging on). Interesting (no coincidence) to read all the addiction discussion. My x is an addict and we just ended our marriage due to it :( It effects everyone so deeply.Hey
