when x joined phish up onstage at great woods in 99. mike knew whats up and i'm sure they all did. but no. a quick song to end the set and then a quick song for an encore. that was a chance for some quality musicians to try to get some place musically. with those guys they could have gone to mars and back. nope. a quickie here. a quick one there. goodnight.it was as if someone did not want to share the spotlight. or possibly be outshined. but when x jams with others it seems like that is not even thought about. its more like lets see how deep we can take this. that to me is a person secure and not insecure about who he is and his talents as an individual and not worried about what people are thinking. i was real excited when he walked on stage and then was stunned at how fast they were off. a little disapointed. but when the creek has someone on, they rip it and you as the listener are left with a big shit ass grin on your face.

The sax player at the lobster barn was off the hook. ONe of the most unexpected and ripping guests ever. In case you forgot, that may be the only blind person who has sat in with the creek. Since i work for the band, i always love it when really famous people sit in. Rob wasserman waz wicked nice and relaxing(wormtown), Mike gordon depends on the show( ilike when he and john play at the same time). Melvin was great, me trying to find him a chair while walkin on an ankle four times its normal size(camp 06). The rain is always an interesting guest as well(camP 05) With out a doubt the creek shows are never boring. The band, fans and guests are all one giant party no matter where the gig.

To all animal-loving friends...
Hi, all you animal lovers. This is pretty simple..
Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Animal
Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to
click on it daily to meet their quota of
getting free food donated every day to abused and
neglected animals.
It takes less than a minute to go to their site and
click on the purple box "fund food for animals" for
free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their
corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily
visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals
in exchange for advertising.
Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.

due respect to the "sit ins" but creek is at its best with just its own members imho. did i love an occasional pevar? for sure. chris kehr up at the bison farm was fine and dandy too (has he sat in elsewhere. stone is a great musician for certain, but give me pure and unadulterated CREEK and i be happy! actually really dug the Sax player (friend of Robs I believe) that sat in at a Lobster barn show during a ripping Tore UP..it was in November remember that..11/17?

I have only one Scottness show, Wednesday August 6, 1997 at The Living Room. And, of course, I would need Scott's permission to put something like that on the web, and would also need to know where to put it (under "Max Creek"?... "Scottness"?) I also have some Scott and Mark, and some Mark only, and one show Bruce Mandaro Band with Mark Mercier.

ed, any chance you got Scottness acoustic solo. was lucky to see wed. march 5,1997 and wed. may 7,1997. those two shows are held in high regard with me. we all love x and to see him telling stories about each song and each song was played just perfect the march show i liked better.but i love both! in the living room was a couch pulled right in front of the stage maybe two couches. and it sure was a treat for me.back then only a handful of Scottness shows had been done,so catching these was again special for me!

well, Gypsy Poet, why don't you write a review of the show, saying what you just said? Then your review would stay with the show forever, to help others find it, and besides, jshep would certainly appreciate it. Here is a link right to the page you need: http://www.archive.org/write-review.php?identifier=mc2000-10-11.shnf (to leave a review of a show at Internet Archive, click on the link beneath the individual files, on the right.) Oh, and jshep, the show is only available in .shn format, perhaps you can go in and have the mp3 files derived so people can just listen to the show if they choose? Or I can do it for you as a new file, with flac and mp3 available? I'm just guessing, but I bet a lot more people listen online than download for cd's.

the sbd feed getting split to a bunch of people caused alot of problems back in the day. I remember sort of often that we'd have to hold the cheap radio shack rca splitters apart because someone had a bad cable in the chain and if they touched everyone would lose signal lol. don't miss that.

I'm guessing that the problems with these tapes was caused by a taper disrupting the string of outputs from the soundboard - didn't that happen fairly frequently back in the days when everyone could patch into the board?
ed
- Monday, May 14, 2007 at 08:54:22 (EDT) [66.189.78.86]
Well, one of the shows I rejected (for now, at least) had a 5-6 minute hole in the middle of "Jones". And these weren't "old" shows, but were from 1999, hopefully there are other masters available out there. It takes me a full day to do a show, so I try to do those that will yield the best results. I'm currently out of OF masters to do (where is OF, anyway?), and almost out of shows from Rich Petlock (courtesy of Pickle), so all I have to work on are these two boxes of Rich's tapes that I was given, one from 1999, the other 1997. I'd actually rather do older shows, because there is less chance that a digital recording exists. All my older shows are 1st generation, and the download totals from Internet Archive show that 1st gen. tapes aren't as popular as masters. (I guess what I'm saying is I need more master cassettes to work on.)

at what point do you decide whether a fade or cut is unacceptable?..like,if lyrics are missing,as opposed to a jam or transition?

so any show that isn't perfect doesn't go up,correct?..i wondered why certain recordings, especially the older ones, weren't making it,even thought they were the best master.

These aren't DATS, they're audio cassettes. I cleaned the heads last week. These were the result of pulled plugs somewhere, lasting about 5 minutes, followed by loose connection noise. Since they're both soundboards, the problem might occur on all soundboard masters. Sometimes shows just don't come out... ask PZen :)

both sterlings from 99. one of them had a hot rod lincoln!!! cold rain and snow!!! one of those shows they had the huge screen around the stage. i watched scarface and the simpsons and live jerry on that thing. or i hope i really saw that. who knows when your out at sterling your not exactly sober. the liquid went down nicely. the screen during the show was fuckin sweet! nothing like sterlings. this is just me but as far as how the band plays and the party sterling is right ther with camp. at one of the sterlings bob weir was playing that sunday and people were going to that after the show the next day. and that night creek rocked it so hard some people were like fuck bob weir. when the creek is on its like come on, something is gonna follow that?

is there a chance to get the tweeter show in 99 when x joined the vermont boys for possum and tuesdays gone? the whole show is not even necessary just the second set. it would be very cool to have it in the collection. two of the best players ever, together. is that the only time they shared a jam together? i know in the pharmers almanac in 89 at a gym in vermont third world phish max creek played a show. did they jam toghether same stage then? just curious! or any other time? i mean trey and scott. sometimes its a touchy subject with people. i like them both and was just curious as to if they played together a few times or just once if theres tapes of it or no or....with all that he's better bullshit to the side.

Fri. April 30, 1999 toads place 28th anniversary weekend. one long ass set. this show .....as the italian americans would say (forget about it!) i didnt even trip this night and i felt as if i had eaten alot of something! Scotty was on the warpath!!! He's like we're Max Fuckin Creek!!!! i mean at 28 years of age it would be understandable if the band was slowing down a bit! HA!!! Max Fuckin Creek!!!! they didnt even take a break. x never left the stage! they were weaving the just a rose jam throughout the end of the last idont know 5-6-7-8 songs. its sick!!! they were in the zone. everything they played just ripped. i mean almost to deep. i'll never forget some guy on the forum the next day wrote no more evil scott!! that said it all. there's another one for the series.

it sounds cleshay or just maybe talked and listened and viewed to death about. but hendrix's performance at woodstock is sick! on many levels. like his playing. the event itself. the people the fans, the fact that it was six in the morning when he came on. i guess it was a problem for awhile or something to get him on. then he's on a trip himself there. and just nails it. but man i watched it and there was definately magic there that weekend. if u go to google at the top it says video. its there to view for free or whatever.

sterling stage 4th july 98. it rained like a mother. there were probably like 50 people there. the weather was horrible. nobody made it out there. but the Creek did. and some lucky fans got to see a mind melt. my god. that place is just pure psychedelic! and so was the band. when you finally get there you are in the middle of nowhere. with just you and the band and the fans. and then everything comes together for the whole reciprocal energy thing to start happening. and that show man i think everyone had eaten some type of halucinagenic. the star spangled banner. the john henry! you know how some songs are good. its not your favorite or their best song. but the jam that accompanies that particular song just puts it over the top. me personally i favor this show as my favorite for a number of reasons.i ate liquid this night. and had been to many creek shows by then but that one! when the evening time hit the creek kicked off with orange sunshine the rain stopped and the magic started! Scotty said "it aint rainin no more, so come on out of your tents and stop fucking!"! it was on from there. the silver jack just said it all for that night! let Me be Me today! Rob!!!!!!!! that show man!!!!

Bummer about that Harpers gig eh?..no one owes anyone anything, except to love one another..oops,wrong forum....and for the other....being in the know tells one about the why,but mere presence tells one about the way. When I found out Rob was in the hospital, there was no talk of the seriousness...I did attend the benefit show for him at the Sand Bar afterwards....if we can all see the one thing, the one common ground..it is a passion for what Creek brings to the table.Part of that is us.

I think that sometimes shows don't make the calender page until all contracts have been signed and validated and all parties have received official confirmation. Could be that the Roch. organizers haven't gotten their paperwork back to Creek. I believe that a show can be 99% certain but won't get posted here until that last 1% is in place.

I have those Klipsch speakers. They bump. These days I have so much music on my computer it's easier to click than burn a disc and put it in the CD player. One of these days when I get motivated I'll hook the computer up to the stereo but those speakers make it easy to not make that a priority. Happy Saturday.

I gotta tell for a "tribute" band that Darkstar Orchestra sure draws a crowd. When I got to Pearl St. last night the line wrapped around the building. Since I was there for the Banyan show downstairs I worked my way through the front of the line to the ticket window. I saw Tommy on the way. I tell ya when ya look like a hippie and try to tell people that you are not actually cutting in line you get some mean looks. Anyhow there were 3 opening bands. The first; Evolve: The life of a groove was a keys./drums duo in the same vein as MMW or Benevento/Russo. Some good driving rythyms and cool keyboard layers. The second band; Rudy Brown started off like going to the Circus and dropping a hit. Bass, drums, guitar, keys and fiddle gave this band a thick unique sound. They used ssome helium like effects on some vocals and seemed to have a really good time. They even teased Peaches en Regalia. They reminded me of The Estradasphere, Secret Cheifs 3, Mr. Bungle and Ween made into some sort of musical club sandwich. The third opener; Build a Machine was a really good rock trio. Sounded like Wolfmother or Really heavy Gov't Mule. They did a stellar cover of Fight for your right by the Beastie Boys. That just leaves Banyan; WOW! Talk about some great musicians. Jim from Moe. can sure play the vibes. Perkins is a maniac behind the kit and Willie Waldman can give El Buho a run for his money when it comes to plaing the trumpet. I didn't catch the name of the guitar or bass players but they were both extremely good. I sweated, I smiled, I screamed. That was a great night out.

"I don't need to fight to prove I'm right, I don't need to be forgiven." Ever hear a song so many damn times it starts to sound like it sucks? But then you find yourself in a different place and the words take on a totally different meaning? I heard that one on the radio today and that line blew my mind, one of those moments. Kinda cool how that happens. peace!

i'd highly recommend that unless you want to be owned by fox that you don't try out for that show. Ryan Montbleau was offered to go on a similar show by NBC.. america's got talent or somethin like that. essentially NBC would have owned them for the rest of their careers... all their albums for the rest of their lives would be essentially copyrighted property of NBC, etc. Could be good if you're just looking to get famous, but if someone had real talent i wouldn't recommend it.

maybe December 1990, no jacket or set list survived. Little drummer boy or Christmas Medley. Blood Red Roses too. My tape with the field broke last year. There never were complete set lists just my favorites tapes.

Didn't intend to give a 'zero'. The site forces one to pick a star rating when leaving a comment, and I picked the one that says 'no rating'. If that calculates as a zero, then that is a bad design on the part of LMA. One should be able to leave a comment w/o giving a rating. Personally I pay no attention when looking for something to listen to. Lineage is where it's at. Peace y'all!

Who the F is battle dancing at the age of 48!?!?!? Are they stupid? I'm 35 and I retired 2 years ago. By the way....... has anyone seen the movie/documentary on HBO about "Clown Dancing"? I think it's called "Rize" or something like that. It's based around the style of dancing called "krumping" and originated out west in California. It has sinced morphed into a style where the dancers use clown makeup to add to their appearance for dance battles. You gotta see it to believe it. I mean I get the whole dance competition/battle thing....... but dressing up like a clown and then dancing to hardcore gangsta rap....... if it was'nt real I bet many of you would think I was making it up. Nothing like seeing a guy in clown makeup and a multi-colored wig tell someone to "Stop frontin!!"

Man dies in parking lot dance faceoff
TheStar.com - News - Man dies in parking lot dance faceoff
May 08, 2007
Associated Press
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – A 48-year-old man has died while dancing, trying to outdo a rival with an acrobatic move while ``battle dancing," police said. Robert Stitt and his rival were competing in a parking lot on Main Street Monday night when he tried a forward flip and landed on his head. "It was just two guys dancing. Everybody was laughing,'' Stitt's friend John Boxley said. Boxley said James Brown was on the radio and Stitt wanted to outdo a rival dancer, who had flipped in the air.
Police said the victim went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead a short time at a local hospital. Police said several people were in the parking lot drinking and battle dancing – a competition in which each dancer tries one-upmanship with unique dance moves.

Liberals, Dems v conserves/GOP is media driven and causing GRIDLOCK in DC. the war aside, face it DC is still corrupt and needs to be fixed. I am neither a Democrat or a Republican... both are bought and sold at every level of the Gov't every day. Democrat? Look at the supplemental Troop funding bill...it's LOADED with pork that was included in order to BUY the votes necessary to pass...which is EXECTLY what they said they were going to STOP. Republican? Empty promises to secure the border... even passed a "Fence" bill... but never passed the FUNDING portion...knowing full well that thefence would not get built without the funding. Election year BS. THEY ALL SUCK!

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- An auction of Grateful Dead memorabilia Tuesday brought in more than $1.1 million for items collected by the band's longtime road manager.
The collection of Lawrence "Ram Rod" Shurtliff included a 1975 cream-colored Travis Bean electric guitar played by vocalist and lead guitarist Jerry Garcia, which fetched $312,000, according to Bonhams & Butterfields Auctioneers.
Deadheads bidding by phone and in the crowded auction room bid up prices for band photos, original album artwork, guit
