smiles is home, resting on the couch. Surgery went well, he supposedly repaired the torn median meniscus, cleaned up all the loose stuff. She's got one of those ice water casts around her knee. She definitely won't be making it out Saturday for Mark n Scott, but I might :) thanks for all the well wishes :) :) :)

Ive never seen DQ...are they not that good? noticed the last show uploaded was a year ago...do they allow board taping? I'm not trying to be critical but is it just me or do AUD recordings of the Creek sound nowhere near as good as they used to back in the 80's? great effort from all involved but the newer AUD s on Archive leave a lot to be desired...havent seen the boys for awhile, but always love them! you would think with techno advances the opposite would be true...any thoughts ..just one mans opinion!

Now, there's something you don't see everyday! hahaha... gotta love it. AND Happy Birthday wishes going out to some of my favorite peeps... S, Shep, Gabriel, Julee, and sk's mom. :)b

Or remember the Wednesday nights at the Butterfly to see Mark play... Or the short lived Duncan's Fish Asylum... Shark bites Yum!!! Or even the Wednesday evenings at Hartford Brewery... Those were Wednesdays... Good music tonight. Sweet Jane's. 88 Pratt St. Hartford.

Heads up for the Stone Church. The Place is really tiny and wouldn't surprise me if they sell out so you might want to buy tickets online before you go, especially if you are traveling any distance. Glad to see you guys coming up to this neck of the woods. Was awsome to see you in Bethel last Fall. I hope you get up this way more often. Thanks for all you do for us, and all you have done for me and my mind and spirit. PS the Church is a great venue because it's so small and has good sound...however watch where you park as the piggers like to ticket you after midnight.

Atlanta, Hampton, and Brendan Byrne Spring of 88'-best run ever for me...I heard the Worcester and Hartford shows were weak, partly due to Jerry's voice giving out...I guess if someone thought the early 88' spring tour shows were weak, the phrase "to each his own" must be true...I saw just under 100 shows, and those were my best...just listen to that 3/27/88 before space or 4/1/88 at the Byrne and get back to me....spring of 89' was no slouch either...

My only Alpine was 1989...and am I glad it was that year. Just watch the Downhill From Here video and the rest explains itself. If anything, I wish all three shows made it to video release, but since the third night was on my 25th b-day, there is clearly a bit of bias. Then again, I'm thankful that three tunes from that show -- West LA, Desolation Row and Deal -- made it to Downhill From Hill.:-)

ToMMy....Feat did the *exact* *same* *set* both nights at Oxford, right down to the between-songs banter! sk...Bromberg shows are normally short. At NYE 2005, he played for 1:45. Saturday night, the Angel Band set was 45 minutes, and Bromberg's was 1:30, so we got 2:15 of Bromberg. However, what mattered was that almost all of Saturday night was of superlative quality.

my first and only visit to alpine was 1985, before it was really crazy there, 2 average shows in a summer chock full of great shows. there was one crazy incident however, some completely naked guy out of his mind on something was running around the parking lot screaming & yelling "he's got a gun, he's got a gun", we had the trunk of the car open and he ran at our car and dived in headfirst for protection from the man with a gun. we called security over and they got him out of our car.

Spring 88 I saw Hampton through Worcester, with the exception of the April Fool's Day show, when I was shut out. My impression was that Hampton was great, and the rest of the shows were primarily a weak echo. I didn't see Atlanta, or the shows AFTER Worceter, so I can't comment there.

Hi, folks! Agreed on Spring '88 GD in general, but want to hear a fine show from start to finish? 4/1/88, Brendan Byrne. A fine & well-varied first set. The second set looks like "what else is new" on paper, but it is well-played all the way from the first notes of China through the last of NFA. On another note...11/3/07...David Bromberg @ Calvin Theatre. As long as Creek does not book a gig that night, I highly recommend seeing Mr. Bromberg right now! The show I saw on Saturday night was top-notch all the way.

Spring 88’ was my first full tour. I have wonderful memories. That Atlanta gig was fantastic. First night of quadro sound and the best ½ Step I’ve ever heard or seen. Hampton was great- Lay Me Down/Stir it Up breakouts. (Got arrested for indecent exposure for taking a leak in the woods).A great April Fools show at the Byrne and a sick Dew the night before. J.G. was sick and his voice suffered in Hartford- and still for some reason he chose to do a Franklin’s – Crazy Fingers even with his voice. He chucked the mike down during Peter. Worcester was so-so. Too much fun for a 16 year old.

I went to the 3 in brenden byrne and I liked those well enough, but if anyone has a copy of 3/31/88, listen to the 2nd set closing all along the watchtower, which ranks as the single worst performance of a grateful dead song I’ve ever heard them perform. Weir was the only one in the band who wanted to play it, there were numerous false starts, and finally the other band members half-heartedly went along for the ride, it was gosh-awful. Then the 3 harshford shows with a sick great gar, first 2 were weak, 3rd was good, same deal in Worcester 1 out of 3 was good, the middle night featured a 53 minute 2nd set, once again please take a listen to AATW from 3/31/88

Evening Stretchy, HB . . . Popping in 3/27/88 does sound like a good idea, but I think I met my GD quota today with that new matrix of 12/16/92 Set II . . . the last top-flight show I saw 'em do. I'm leaning towards old Bad Livers instead . . . Ain't nothing like "Lust for Life" played on a banjo at breakneck speed!

How about the lady at the Leominster show a few years back - her husband sent her up to ask Scott to play "Scarlet Fire." Scott's response: "We don't do those together." By her reaction she wasn't familiar with the Dead, because she refused to understand that it was more than one song she was asking for.

Infoman needs some info...Doe SPAC have those monitors outside of ther building? I am thinking of taking my whole family to see Rush there, and inside seats would put me over the top...the last time I took my wife to see them at Hartford CC, she told me it was way to loud ( 96' tour it was very loud...but clear) my kids are 11, 13, and 15. Any thoughts?

waters does not put on an improve show.. there is too much of a 'show' with taped effects and video and light queues and stuff. its all good.. that kind of show has its place.. no need for every band to improv and jam. he wrote some pretty perfect songs.. no need to to take a great 4 minute song and "jam" it to 20 minutes.. zzzzzzzzz

...and upon further review...I actually went through a second party ticket broker and paid up the yang. When I checked tickemaster, they were only selling preferred parking for that show. I figured someone else got the actual ticket contract. The better shell seats are going for $131.00 and are sold out. The primo seats are up for auction. So...Waters isn't charging $400+. That was me not doing my homework and getting jumpy at the time tickets went on sale. But I've spent more for less plenty of times. Especially during my dark years. I'd burn through that much $ on just a 2 day run. And I don't even have any lasting fond memories to show for it, just a bit of heart damage.

$245 apiece before all the add on charges. Again, I'm taking my parents. It's alot of money but I love them dearly and I don't know how much longer they'll be in good enough health to do things like this. And that's the only way I justify it. I likely would have passed on the show altogether (even lawn seats) were it not for wanting to do this with/for my folks. It's interesting how they did the sales. You could select your section and row and prices were on a sliding scale. They had 2nd row, front and center section for $475. And the price dropped every few rows. Tell ya the truth, I'd rather see the musicians get it than stubhub and the other brokers who buy all the tickets and then auction them off or list them for ridiculous prices.

I can honestly say that I hope to never pay THAT much for tickets for ANYTHING ever again (except maybe game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals if the Sabres are in it). Sweens, I really like Brave New World. While it probably isn't an accurate portrayal of the future, the disintegration of the natural world and the consequences that come from a completely man-made society with nothing natural left is not very far-fetched. I've read a couple other Huxley books and I think he is an extremely insightful writer.

Now available at Internet Archive: Thursday October 23, 1997 at Starlight in Fort Collins, CO, taped by Rich Petlock. I'm sure Rich considered this recording a failure, because one channel kept dropping out, just once in set 1, but probably 50-60 times during set 2. Thanks to the miracle of modern computers, I was able to patch the missing sections, using the music from the other track. Most of these are less than a second. While that creates a change to mono and then back to stereo, they are usually imperceptable, and aren't bad even when they are. Since this was a really good show, it was definitely worth the effort. The show was broadcast over the internet, so some of you may have heard it there. Set 1: Cruel World - Feelin' Alright - Blood Red Roses, Willow Tree, Mystery Train, Emerald Eyes - Devil's Heart - Signature. Set 2: Orange Sunshine (with Dear Prudence jam) - When It Comes to You - Rainbow - Henry - Something Is Forming. Encores: Werewolves of London - Magic Carpet Ride. Flac files available now, listening mode shortly. Go to http://www.archive.org/details/mc1997-10-23.flac16

friday's show should be up later tonight. Costa did a healey style mix.. each drummer was mixed so one was on each side. it's mostly a sbd mix so costa could check out how it sounded like that. sounded good through the headphones.

High, folks! Feeling that way after last night's wonderful show at the Boulder Theater by David Bromberg: Actually, the Quartet, Angel Band (Bromberg's wife Nancy with two other sweet female vocalists) and a fine sardonic-humored opening set by Paul Thorn. Maybe it's the fact that he's playing plenty of shows again, but the man was !@#!@king ON; whether as a sideman for Angel Band, or just preaching the gospel in a *possessed* version of "Testify", Mr. Bromberg just flat-out ruled! Pete Wernick (Dr. Banjo of Hot Rize) was invited up to the stage and contributed to a rollicking "Dark Hollow" (with a feedback snafu which Bromberg turned to sheer comedy) and a blissful "Summer Wages". Creek content: Perhaps Creek could cover "Danger Man"?!;-)

Picking up on a thread from a couple of days ago regarding favorite versions of tunes, I want to throw these into the mix: "Midnight Hour," Palladium at Rocky Point, 9/19/92; "Field," Lupo's 6/13/97; "I Will Always See Your Face" and "Something is Forming," Water Street, 11/10/00 (JARdale--I agree that the "Eminence Front" from this show is killer and I'd say "Tangled Up in Blue" is too).
