Many problens that night. Although not noted on your list, I am pretty sure that DJ got up there at one point, K was on the SBD and I was supposed to do that flip for K and I totally blew it. I will pull the tapes to check.

No, I sat that one out because the weather sucked. I do remember getting the list via phone and hearing them go back on for another encore. Wasn't there some problem with auto-reverse that night?

I was out plowing snow tonight and had a memory of the one time I took a snow plow to a show, 1/14/99. CurlyQ asked me why I didn't take the plow off the truck and I answered because I will just have to put it back on tomorrow (this was back before everybody had "minute-mount" plows). X missed the first set and it turns out that the band house hadn't been plowed, so me and Costa cleared the driveway so everybody could make it down to the house. K, I still have your half of the show on tape and between the both of us, I think we are only missing one show. Carl, where you there??

I can't tell you how many times I've seen this scenario at Creek through the years: There will be someone at the show, big fan of the band, there for the music, who has a particular song in mind that they just have to hear. It would make their night if it gets played. And then at some point the band breaks into that tune. The person goes wild! It's exactly what they wanted to happen! ... Then they turn to the person next to them and talk through the rest of the tune about whether or not they should get new snow tires.

there is that fine line of audience recordings.. i do not mind the occasional yell or hoohaah.. people go to shows to enjoy the music and have fun and getthere groove on.. but the people that go and talk thru the show.. what is the point of that. then it is a social event and the majority of those people could care less if it was x on stage or john the bagpiper... they want to go out and shoot the sh!t with their buddies...we go to hear the music, some go for a musical backdrop.. we get mad cuz they ruined our recordings.. who knows.. its snowing and i get to go home early.. drive safe!

**"Intuitionism" 1. The theory that truth or certain truths are known by intuition rather than reason. 2. The theory that external objects of perception are immediately known to be real by intuition. 3. The theory that ethical principles are known to be valid through intuition. 4. The view that the subject matter of mathematics consists of the mental or symbolic constructions of mathematicians rather than independent and timeless abstractions, as is held in Platonism.

But like I said before, if you have picture ID and a birth certificate and you follow porcedures, you should be fine. I work at a Passport Acceptance Agency. The word we have is No passport needed for car travel, only air or sea for Canada at present time. A passport always makes it easier, but costs $97.00 and is good for ten years. It does take 6-8 weeks to receive after applying. You need a certified birth certificate and 2 pasport photos and a photo id and of course $$$. Good luck! Peace & Love, Wendy

here ya go JARdale straight from the sight..thou the page was last updated as of december so things might have changed..one never knows.. CANADA – Passport or proof of U.S. citizenship such as a birth certificate, naturalization certificate, and photo ID required. Minors (under 16) traveling alone or in someone else’s custody must present written authorization, signed before a notary, from the parent(s) or guardian. Visas are not required. Canadian immigration officials at ports of entry will issue persons planning to stay longer than 180 days a visitor’s record. Anyone with a criminal record (including a DWI charge) should contact the Canadian Embassy or nearest Consulate General before travel. U.S. citizens entering Canada from a third country must have a valid passport. HIV testing required for resident applicants who are over 15. A temporary resident applicant requires immigration medical examination if stay exceeds 6 months or seeking to work in Canada. For student or business travel, check with the Canadian Embassy, 501 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20001 (202/682-1740) or the nearest Consulate General: CA (213/346-2701), MI (313/567-2085), NY (212/596-1700 or 716/858-9501), or WA (206/443-1375). congrats on that bottle. if it is the napa, you don't need to rush to find that special occasion. it will get better for at least 6 to 8 years (some harshness would mellow and some flavors would noticably develop) and it would hold up for 15 to 20. if you liked the one you tried recently, then go for it anytime! (p.s.: opening kick-ass wine is a great special occasion on its own.)

The earliest known Creek performance of Just A Rose was onJune 18, 1982. This was the second show of the Drink The Stars recording sessions. The song was softer than later versions and did not feature screaming in its original form.

The earliest known Creek performance of Leaves was onOctober 26, 1983. Amy had recently left the band and they were adding a lot of new material. Leaves was a faster song in those days, with almost a reggae infulence to it.

Disclaimer: Please remember that the information from back then isn't complete, so these may not be the actual debuts, just the ones that survived on tape.

Kenny, I think JAR debuted in 1983, "drink the stars" was in 1982 and if they had a tune as rippin' as JAR when they recorded that I would hope they would have included it. I think leaves debuted in 1987, but I could be wrong. What does Carl say?

I have to admit, I prefer the threaded message boards and would post here more often if the format was changed. The real question would be is that something any of you would personally want more of. I usually think twice before posting here because every time I post, I cause the demise of somebody else's contribution into the black hole named forum archive. If the board turned to a thread based format the amount of nonsense posts would probably increase. At the same time, many people who feel comfortable here and feel at home here on the internet will be displaced, or will have to adapt. It's probably a good thing that any raging debates and volatile discussions are soon covered up by new words, rather than fester on and on getting bumped to the top with every fervent reponse. This message board is like a zen garden that changes like the sand on the waters edge at the beach. It's a good place to be. Peace!

On a personal note, very sad times here. I had to put my dog Gus down. He had cancer and was in pain. He was 14 years old and had a good long life. Now he is at peace but we miss him. Lots of memories of the good times but great sadness. Then to follow that up a friend of mine died yesterday. Talk about piling on. If your of a mind to, say a prayer for Gus and my friend Jim.

I have bee away from the forum for a few days. Looks like I missed some sort of development regarding the format of the forum. My two cents, I much prefer the current format to threaded format. Since I don't make it to as many shows as I used to and don't see people as often as some of you do, the free format makes it easier to catch up on the news and goings on with the band and the family. We really don't have the traffic to support a threaded site and we don't have that many topics. This is a general faimly news site and keeping up with the comings and goings would be very difficult on a threaded site and most threads woud tend to be very short. Just my two cents.

Hi, folks! HB...some wise decisions on (a) getting Panic tickets and (b) passing on SchwagDog, especially at those prices. You folks know I have long behind a BBS instead of the Forum in its current sate, and all I have to add is to at least try it. If it doesn't work out, go back to the Forum and carry on...simple as that. Snagged tix to a few Fox Theatre shows this morning: The Funky Meters, Sam Bush, Jeff Austin & Friends (incl. Danny Barnes) and Railroad Earth. Creek on, folks!

thread the board and you divide the people imho. Have you ever gone and seen a band due to a forum on their website? You go to a bands sites to hear samples, maybe, but more importantly you look for the caledar of upcoming shows (which I believe is the most important aspect of a bands site). If you do stumble in to the forum is there really anything that is that is so offensive about what goes on in here that would detract a new fan? Im sorry but i think the value and the impact you place on this forum is way out of hand. I mean if anything ive been turned off by the censoring. What does this say about the band? Open and free minds cant just express themselves. EVery post doesnt have to be a hard on as to why we all love MAx Creeek. And every post need not be a promtion but i gess thats what the band wants apparently. OK ill shut up now.

If the Forum went threaded, I would imagine the running bull session we currently have would juts move to a thread. We'd all know which thread, and we'd drift over to it. I find it hard to imagine it would be that big of a deal. The advantage would be that if someone who's never seen the band comes to the Forum -- someone who doesn't know any of us regulars -- the first thing they see WON'T be a political argument, or someone cracking really rude jokes about someone else's mother, etc. Let them come to a show, pay the cover, and THEN we can offend them! Heh heh heh . . .

I guess I just disagree on the degree of impact changing the forum will have on newcombers...I think that would be minimal, and the regulars(the ones who go to all the shows) would be unsatisfied...but I could be wrong...it happens from time to time...:)

I don't think any minds have been made up and I don't speak for them if they have. I like this Forum too, Buzz just made me realize I've been coming here over 10 years myself. But I feel like its mostly "I don't change because I don't want change," more from the POV of the regulars (god bless em) than the casual visitor.. which is somewhat the point, to make it more visitor-friendly. Yet I have seen vibrant threaded boards with conversation aplenty, and I believe in our capacity for adaptation. I think it'll be comparable to going from VCR to DVD, where you can select chapters... a quick adjust.

I'll just say it one more time....turning the board into a threaded one would be a big mistake, and a turn off...I agree with ed, bfree, AMS, and the countless others voicing their opinion...I doubt I would post too often on that type of format...there is a reason I never post on Phil's site or Rochester Groove...it would be the end of something special..one room, one conversation, one band....and I disagree that newcombers would be turned off..just get them in front of x a couple of times...think bread and butter...that being said, I think minds have been made up, so I'll give it a chance..

As a loyal supporter and fringe member of the Max Creek community since 1981 and an almost daily lurker on this site(I posted fairly regularly in the late nineties)I feel the need to weigh in on the subject of format change on this site .I enjoy the board the way it is .It in no way influences me to attend or not attend shows .I ALWAYS want to attend shows however sometimes life gets in the way.Having young children has severly impacted the amount of shows my wife and I are able to see .We have only been able to attend a couple of shows a year the past few years . Getting back to the point;I don't think this forum has any bearing on atracting or repelling new fans.Max Creek fans are THE BEST ,however I believe we were all drawn to the band by and for THE MUSIC !I think a music sample on the site would be helpful .I think the limited number of shows played these days impacts drawing a new audience the most .Whatever you guys decide will not change the most important thing...THE MUSIC ! Hope to see you all at a show soon .MY opinion - Keep the open Forum . ---Peace---

hiya hiya hiya!!! i love the way this boards set up. kinda why i got a computer in the first place, that and the music downloads/porn :( , but it's actually become a tool for the kids and their school work. i really don't post as often as i used to, but i feel it's a place where people who do and don't really know each other , ? have this commen bond HERE , can post just about anything and get feedback , positive or not , amongst(?) the same group of posters/peers. it's kinda neat watching what everyone's particular feelings are when they post . MAX CREEK RULES .jmho

Tommie i did indeed get that CD from you, and i thank you! It's in heavy rotation in my car. I drive to the hospital at 4am now, and it's really nice to hear some friendly voices along the way. And i can hear the rain, just like you said ;-) Anyway, I like the free-flowing format of this forum better than the threaded ones. The stream-of-consciousness nature of it makes it more like a virtual meeting place, a "forum" if you will. But as i've said in the past, I think the archive leaves a bit to be desired. It can be really hard to find relevant posts once they're moved there, esp. when it's not updated regularly (which is has been lately). And the font is totally archaic...

heh,nah Derek, that was definitely an extreme statement I made...my intent was to stimulate thought. Why must a thread be moved,if not to segregate ideas from one another?...I really don't mean to browbeat.I get ERICs point in establishing a threaded site.Let newbies get accustomed to Creeks' fanbase slowly, finding their own little niche to bond with.It really makes sense from the perspective of someone with the responsibility of attracting new customers/fans,allowing the visitor to assimilate the community on their own terms ,rather than be right in their face.I really do get it and respect the decision. But for regulars and long timers,it will be constant browser action.Maybe if a threaded board can be found with a chat feature that has a cache emptied out on a 24 hour basis. That would be cool in my book as a visitor.Productive feedback is best, isn't it?

Maybe, b.. because, for the record, I think you've consistently been one of the most polite, thoughtfully worded, and imaginative posters on here. Out of favor??? I can't think of a time. I mean, look at sk by compare.. he's drawn actual threats, now that's out of favor! tommy probably has restraining orders!

I guess what I like best is,even if only one person acknowledges you,you feel like you are a part of the community.I mean, when I feel like I'm 'out of favor' with the folks here,I am less inclined to attend a show or tape. Why be around people who are mad/offended/don't like me?It will poison my enjoyment of the band. And I have regret when I cause such a feeling. It is that same communal vibe that helps folks to put aside differences and get along with each other. The threads will eliminate the positive peer pressure to get along.Maybe I see things too deeply.

I don't think I'd participate in a threaded board at all, except to announce new shows online. This is a conversation; a threaded board is not.

Kel I used to be that way too.. but one can adapt. I also think that when someone here and immediately sees FUCK THE YANKEES or the latest mama joke or folks talking about all kindsa things they wouldn't voice in actual mixed company, there is at least as much chance of turning them off as seeing a bunch of thread topics to select from. And I've started threads elsewhere that didn't get a single reply. And life went on.

well that's One way of seeing it. I don't sense a lot of interest from anyone in 'policing' a board in the way you allude to.. its just a different way to access posts, with more functionality. And with all due respect, if the unlikely possibility of having a post moved feels like being "effectively" "eliminate
